ITS A NATIONAL STORY.

It being a national story is moot on whether or not it is justified.

When did that become a legal standard?

You so mad......do me a favor, commit a crime, evade police, run one down with your car then post here again about your experience.

Incorrect

Incorrect.

If the factors go against the officer then I guess it would be a protection of the citizen, right? The analysis of the ruling can result in either officer was right, or officer was wrong. It's not merely a protection only for the officer.

Those two parts...protection from considering info from hindsight and and considering the difficulty in the officer making split decisions are there specifically to protect the officer in performing his duty.

You're a little late to the party, so your ignorance on this point is excused. If you'd have read up better you'd see that the mention of national news story is in response to "rah rah rah clear cut case of justified deadly force". If it were so clear cut why is it in dispute even at a national level?

Some people aren't able to admit to themselves that things like this are clear cut.

Its tough because ill never condone the shooting of a young person.

However the cops rammed him twice, and still gave the young man a chance to show his hands and live to fight his day in court. The cops showed remarkable restraint in comparison to their counterparts-- we've seen other tPOS cops shoot without even assessing a situation.

Will not ever say a shooting or killing was "justified" but the cop acted within reason , understanding and restraint and it just ended poorly.

Sad that a poor decision cost someone their life but thats how it goes.

The cops should get lauded and commended for how they handled this situation -- these men are grade A professionals and their handling of this should be used in all training videos.

even how they handled the young woman at the end was very commendable. They couldve blasted her and have gotten away with it -- we've seen it before.

YOU brought those cases up, not me, in response to why this is a national story. Those cases YOU brought up for comparative purposes had as their central theme racial issues. This one does not. So the cases YOU brought up have no comparative value as to WHY ITS A NATIONAL STORY.

YOU brought up the fact that the story was being covered by national news agencies, as if that distinguishes this story, from other "cop kills citizen" stories.

So the cases YOU brought up have no comparative value as to WHY ITS A NATIONAL STORY.

Ferguson: Cop kills citizen.
Baltimore: Cops kill citizen.
Dallas: Sorry, this one was just a murderous reaction to a couple of different Cops kill citizen stories, in:
Baton Rouge: Cop kills citizen.
Falcon Heights Minnesota: Cop kills citizen.

But yeah, there's no comparative value to the:

Weathersfield Connecticut: Cop kill citizen story.

None at all. Don't see anything comparative about that at all, nope, nothing.

Because most people do not know the law and are not familiar with what constitutes justifiable use of lethal force.

What percentage of people have even read Graham v. Conor?

Only in your head, like everything else. Perhaps go back to hog's last post that was responding to.

Yeah, no national news agency ever tried to make news out of wholecloth, blow it up, make it into a big, oh I don't know... let's say collusion with foreign country to affect the outcome of an election story or anything.

And Lord knows, no national news agency would pick up and run with a bullshite story about a high school kid supposedly raping a woman, just because he was selected, and being confirmed to the Supreme Court. Nah. Never happen.

Shall I go on? I can. For the rest of the week.
