quote:I do. In case you missed it, I said that I, too, should be shamed for my sin. Another poster used the word "convicted". Substitute for that if you are triggered by that word.
holy frick. and you claim to be a christian.
quote:Jesus told people to repent of their sins. That assumes they are sinning. Did Jesus' words produce shame? We should be ashamed of our sin before God. It can also be called godly sorrow that produces repentance.
Luke 9:5 - "If people do not welcome you, leave their town and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them."
where does jesus say anything about shaming the people you disagree with, or forcing your belief on them?
quote:
For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. -Romans 6:20-23

Private matter between consenting adults. Why would you care?

Tautologies are not proofs, son.

quote:oh hell, i honestly dont know. there was several changes in management, and at one point the people in charge thought my contract paid me too much so they tried to replace me. i was writing that thing at my kitchen table, alone, and getting 500,000,000 page views a year. they put a whole staff on it and today i would have to check and see if the site even still exists.
what happened to the gossip website you used to run? Seemed like it got pretty good play around TD and linked often back in the day.
i took a bunch of time off after that. writing screenplays now. things are very good.
(note: frick. i didnt think anyone would still remember that nonsense. i liked ranting on here anonymously.)
(edit: im working on a screenplay now for relativity and i cant say what its about but there are 4 main leads, a navy seal type group, and theyre named Ridley, Badger, Beckwith, and Paris, after Stevan Ridley, Tyrann, Kendell Beckwith, and Ed Paris. the general-type in charge is named Aranda. i had an early draft with 4 other team members who died within the first 5 minutes and they were all named after Louisiana recruits who went to bama but i scrapped that version. LSU is never mentioned in any way in the script, in fact the studio doesnt even know why i chose those names, but the name of their team is Red Team: Tiger. its just a little something for LSU Tigers everywhere)

You do know you aren't supposed to take single lines of the Bible and use it to prove a point, right? Too many contradictions.

i can respect Christians like GeorgeTheGreek, but people like you are detestable.

i can respect with Christians like GeorgeTheGreek, but people like you are detestable.
I asked where I was wrong. If another Christian (or non-Christian, for that matter) can show me where I am misusing the Bible, I will repent of it. I don't think that qualifies as self-righteousness as I'm serious about wanting to know where I am taking something out of context, if I am.

There is really only one right way you can "use the Bible" in a conversation with non believers...and that is to spread the gospel. Beating people over the head with the Bible isn't going to glorify God or make people see the truth that Jesus is his son, who died on our behalf, so that we might be saved from the righteous judgement of God for our innate depravity. That's all that matters, brother.

It's one of a few points of contention I have with most other conservatives.

Agreed. Because you have none.
Glad we could reach an agreement today!

I get the frustration I guess when there's no context or anything to give you a clue as to what's in the link, but is it really "blind" when the subject is in the title?

quote:I get what you mean but I believe the Bible is useful for making a defense of Christianity to the unbeliever (we're called to provide an answer for the hope that is in us, after all). Many here either haven't read the Bible or have done so with their eyes shut and I am doing my best to provide something that they haven't read or heard elsewhere, namely the truth of the scriptures. Also, I have shared the gospel with these folks many times. I try to do that on occasion just as a reminder to them of their hopelessness apart from Christ and the hope that exists through Him.

Thank you for your concern, though
