It's the only way she sees to stand out in a crowd... and it is pretty easy these days. Much easier than listing accomplishments.

According to Wiki she had about $25k in campaign money. The next lowest person was about 5x higher and most were 10x higher or more.
The two people she beat were both already in politics. One is a current state rep.
For someone that is 25, with the lowest budget, and no experience in politics, running for a major office at the state level - she did well. If she puts together a decent platform, she can cause Crenshaw problems. She needs to get started now, though, and get her name out there and maybe get some endorsements.
