U.S. Would Lose War To China or Russia

Bi-partisan body of former defense officials were tasked last year to study America's military readiness. They just released their findings and are saying we'd lose a war to China or Russia if it were to occur right now. They said our military has been "eroded to a dangerous degree."
Thanks Obama.
The above is from CBS news, but I won't link it (just google it).
Thanks Obama.

"America's ability to defend its allies, its partners and its own vital interests is increasingly in doubt," the report's authors wrote. "It might struggle to win, or perhaps lose, a war against China or Russia."
The panel is called the National Defense Strategy Commission, and is made up of 12 former national security officials and experts. It was tasked one year ago with evaluating the nation's defenses, and reviewing the National Defense Strategy, a comprehensive planning document by the Defense Department that lays out military objectives.

In fairness the article says struggle to win or might lose, not definitely lose

I guess that $717 billion defense bill just wasn't enough huh?

It is very difficult to stay on top forever.

this is a report outlining the need for more money....
it's just a fund raising flyer...
Russia just lost a carrier in drydock with the drydock sunk...and china has no credible navy at this point so they are not invading the US....

1) This was already posted
2) This is a not very thinly veiled lobby for more military spending. Which is ridiculous and probably the only thing I agree with Dems on.

They gonna invade this country and win?
Could both China and Russia together defeat our Navy?
Could both Russia and China defeat our Air Force?
I don't think so.

China's new aircraft carriers. And they are building more.
No, I don't expect China to invade us and I don't think there is an emergency, but it's clear our military's equipment is outdated and our troops are tired.

If a war between us and either of them went nuclear there would be no winner, just a bunch of dead people and a radioactive wasteland left behind.
Plus I agree with those who say this is just a fundraising flyer.

Boom. Just trying to get more money.
Not saying there aren't areas that need improvement. I am sure there are plenty of cut corners and other areas where there should be cuts.

That would require them to completely neutralize the US Navy, I don't see that happening.

Solid military strategy: tell enemy if you fought them they would win.
Good God how does this shite make the news?

China’s aircraft carrier program marches on, with two carriers completed and a third ship under construction. In 2017 the first carrier Liaoning, as the Pentagon’s recently released 2018 China Military Power Report ( PDF) noted, made two high profile voyages to Hainan Island and Hong Kong. That having been said, despite being in operation for more than three years it has yet to travel to a foreign country.
hahahhahaha
quote:
At the same time China’s second carrier, the unnamed Type 002 ship , is currently portside at Dalian and undergoing shore-based systems testing. Type 002 is very similar both dimensionally and in outer appearance to Liaoning, retaining conventional propulsion and a ski-jump for assisted takeoffs. The ship differs in having minor changes to the superstructure, including new advanced electronically scanned array (AESA) radars, and can carry twenty-four to thirty J-15 fighters—slightly more than Liaoning.
hahahahaha
quote:
Meanwhile, China’s third carrier, the also-unnamed Type 003 , is under construction at Shanghai’s Jiangnan Shipyard. Unlike the Type 002 ship the shipyard is building the 003 in modules (known as “superlifts” in American shipyards) to be assembled in drydock, just like the U.S. Navy’s supercarriers. Construction won’t be the only thing 003 shares with her American counterparts—the ship will reportedly be the first Chinese surface ship to rely on nuclear propulsion, and will use either steam or electromagnetic catapults to launch aircraft.
hahahahahahahaha
Huge threat to the US Navy.

The commission argued that despite a $716 billion American defense budget this year, which is four times the size of China's and more than 10 times that of Russia, the effort to reshape the U.S. defense establishment to counter current threats is under-resourced.
"It is beyond the scope of our work to identify the exact dollar amount required to fully fund the military's needs," the report concluded. "Yet available resources are clearly insufficient to fulfill the strategy's ambitious goals, including that of ensuring that (the Defense Department) can defeat a major-power adversary while deterring other enemies simultaneously."

Chin has recently started to pump resources into their navy, but it will be decades not years before they are competing with our navy. They also lack officer training capacity that the US has its its history of navel warfare and the navel academy.
and we are also spitting out super modern carriers as well, so the bar to catch up to is continually increasing.
