They are absolutely right. Police are unquestionable since 9/11 and our prison system is an embarrassment to the civilized world. I hope the UN busts Obama's arse on the continued use of torture also.

This.

Anyone who can't admit that the militarization of police is a growing problem in this country must not be paying attention. This has nothing to do with black people and Ferguson though.

I really think you guys are killing the messenger here.
Why not, instead of attacking the UN, you dissect the message?

Our criminal justice system goes against everything we supposedly stand for.

For christsakes, we have tortured ppl. We detain ppl indefinitely. We incarcerate more ppl than anywhere else. We spy on our own citizens. We have a litany of unjustified police shootings.

And we're bashing the UN for speaking about it.

Gets your heads out of your asses gentlemen.

I don't mind torture as long as they aren't US citizens.

American Exceptionalism =/= doing whatever the frick we want to the rest of the world because we know we can get away with it. Or at least it shouldn't mean that. Too often, it does.

I didn't read the article. Was there a paragraph on North Korea, Iran, Syria, and a Chapter on ISIS? If not shut up!

UN can stay the hell out of our business. While they are at it, they can get the hell out of our country too.

I don't understand this board sometimes.

Posters love to bash the police. However, when an intergovernmental organization calls out the police, people bash said intergovernmental organization.

Google the statistics on the number of seriously mentally Ill people that are in jails or prisons. This is true torture. Most are untreated.

frick the U.N. and their concerns. Who the frick do they think they are trying to tell us what to do? Police brutality? Nothing is wrong with the police. It's the minorities that are the problem.

Correct. We have a huge problem with our whole CJ system and it has a trickle down effect throughout society. Dislike the welfare state? Stop locking people up for years for non violent drug crimes.

But this gets posted repeatedly and most people don't care as long as they get their paycheck and the "undesirables" are out of their sight.
