We were mining a refining rare earth minerals before any of us were born. China subsidized it mining process double what it makes on them to keep everyone else out of the market.
Big Meh on such breakthroughs. It isn't because we don't have all of them and don't know how or that EPA regs make it too expensive. It's because China basically pays us to buy theirs

The original machine had a base-plate of prefamulated amulite, surmounted by a malleable logarithmic casing in such a way that the two main spurving bearings were in a direct line with the pentametric fan. The latter consisted simply of six hydrocoptic marzlevanes, so fitted to the ambifacient lunar waneshaft that side fumbling was effectively prevented. The main winding was of the normal lotus-o-delta type placed in panendermic semi-boloid slots in the stator, every seventh conductor being connected by a non-reversible tremie pipe to the differential girdlespring on the "up" end of the grammeters...
Yep, and it worked very well until the gominizer wore out and they couldn't find enough trillium chlorate to make a new one.

Once they did finally get the new one made and the modal vibration was synchronized via the retroencabulated spline, the entire assembly achieved spontaneous phase coherence, allowing the differential girdlesprings to precessively modulate the ambifacient lunar waneshaft at frequencies exceeding the theoretical threshold of side-fumbling. This not only neutralized any residual gravitic torque, but also induced a self-sustaining flux inversion in the panendemic semi-boloid slots, resulting in net negative reluctance that made the machine run backwards in time during peak load.

I was told there would be no chemistry.

Pay attention, board users.

Are you talking about a turbo-encabulator?
