I mean good on him, but everyone can be replaced. As a Navy Captain already, I’m guessing his pension is in the books already.

It's not that they "can't" get the ship underway, the Navy is playing histrionics and WON'T allow the ship to go because if they did it would absolutely destroy their lawsuit defense. Seems like they already fricked up, however. Buried deep down in the article is this little nugget:

Funny when the article was printed the ship was underway...the CO and that ship deployed for a total of over 300 days, unvaxed.
