US expecting North Korea to return troop remains in coming days

Washington (CNN)The Trump administration is expecting North Korea to return up to 200 sets of remains believed to be US servicemembers who died during the Korean War, according to four administration officials.
Planning is underway to receive the remains from North Korea in the coming days, although the actual transfer date and location have not been finalized, the officials say. They add that the administration is ready to receive the remains as early as this week if the North Koreans decide to move quickly.
It is not known if the dog tags, remains of military uniforms, identification cards or other personal affects might be included, officials say. However, the US military has strict procedures for DNA matching before any American military families are notified that their loved ones remains have been found.
When the transfer happens, it is expected that North Korean officials will turn them over to United Nations representatives at the DMZ, which marks the border between North and South Korea. The UN at that point will turn them over to US military personnel for a brief ceremony.
Remains are then transferred to a military laboratory in Hawaii for DNA matching and identification.
One official said it is possible the White House could still decide to send an envoy directly to Pyongyang to collect the remains and escort them back to the military laboratory for DNA analysis. LINK

You think China is going to let NK do anything before the trade talks are settled? China still gets to use the threat of NK's nukes as leverage in the talks.
"We'll see what happens."

Can you see into the future?
Bottom line is the left said he caved and gave into all kinds of fake demands. You have to admit, KJU was pretty conciliatory in their meeting. I really think he sees the possible prosperity that is possible for NK.
I do agree, however, that Chiy-na will still play a major role, but it might come down to who NK chooses to play ball with.

"Trump imports dead bodies for personal gain" or you will hear pretty much nothing about it from most of the media.

But Muh test sites.
resident Donald Trump said Thursday that North Korea has already demolished four of its main military testing sites, in a sign that the country was moving forward with its vow to abandon nuclear weapons in exchange for peace. LINK

Sanctions cannot work without China's participation. They will use the potential for sanctions as leverage in trade talks.

who NK chooses to play ball with
They don't have any choice in playing ball with China, China MAY let them have a choice in letting them play ball with the US - but only if it suits their bargaining power in the trade talks with the US.
Keep your eye in the ball - trade negotiations between China and the US trumps everything else.

No, China is the fisherman, NK is the fishing pole, and denuclearization is the bait. China's fishing for the best deal that will create the most wealth for them.
China will use the wealth to promote their brand through capital projects in Africa, Asia and South/Central America. The will also use the wealth to expand their base assets, build a fleet and air superiority over Taiwan to increase pressure to the point where they regain the island. From 1950-1990 , if China had threatened Taiwan, we would've intervened to stop them. Today? Not so much. 20 years from now, not a chance in hell.
What Kim did in Singapore was merely show Trump the bait. Releasing prisoners and remains is just chum.

Some closure for families. A decent burial and proper respect for the fallen.
Thank you Mr. President.

The return of US troop remains from North Korea is an important reminder of how ingrained racism was in American culture during that time, and how far we still have to go today.
