A US guided-missile destroyer, USS Benfold, has sustained slight damage when a Japanese tug drifted into it during a towing exercise off central Japan.

'No one was injured on either vessel and Benfold sustained minimal damage, including scrapes on its side, pending a full damage assessment,' a statement from the US Seventh Fleet said on Saturday.

'Benfold remains at sea under her own power. The Japanese commercial tug is being towed by another vessel to a port in Yokosuka. The incident will be investigated,' it said.

The incident was the latest mishap involving a US warship in Asia.

This does not appear to be a navigational screwup.

Do we have the worst naval captains in US Navy history right now with all these incidents? Or are people hacking into the radar or some wacky shite right out of a Hollywood movie?

Give the Navy a break. If you get t-boned at an intersection and had the right-of-way, is it your fault just because you were driving? Get real.

Not sure how you put the Navy at fault on this one.

There has been a great uptick in military failures since the military has been changed in to a social justice force

But As long as every deviant perverse group is represented and no one is getting their feelings hurt I guess everything will be OK

I went to the ships homepage to see who the C.O. was and saw this...

Sorry but we need to get this BS out. They are probably so busy being politically correct they can't steer the ship Maybe training should come before 'awareness' months?

Maybe instead of aircraft carriers we should just make ram boats.

The tug should not have been able to 'drift into it', is the point.

Good for the Navy that they didn't do the ramming this time though.
