Better title would be......This is what happens when you turn over transportation and environment to idiots that don't work together.

The University of Nebraska has completed their crash tests on EV's ......there is not a road in the country that has safety rails or barriers that can withstand a crash involving a Electric Vehicle ......

Now there is a shovel ready job force .....too bad the country can't afford it.

I think he means “Nebraska about to get fricked for saying the emperor has no clothes” on EVs.

If he's claiming EVs weigh too much for guardrails and such I'd simply reply my 1/2 ton truck weighs more than the vast majority of EVs.

So, I'd like to see a link.

Maybe you should think instead of simply going off half cocked about something you don't like.

eta-And I'm no supporter of EVs.

EV's are the new minorities.

We're gonna lower the safety standards so they can pass muster...

THAT's what he's talking about.

EV's are super heavy due to their battery packs. I think he is saying, safety rails are too weak to contain them in case of a crash, they will bust right through.

Also, they are hell on the roads. All that weight wears the pavement down faster.

quote:

For example, the 2023 GMC Hummer EV, a full-size pickup, weighs more than 9,000 pounds, sporting a 2,900-pound battery. In comparison, the 2023 GMC Sierra, also a full-size pickup, weighs less than 6,000 pounds, according to Kelley Blue Book.

The weight is a major problem that will have to be fixed before EV's can ever be mainstream. And the only way to fix it is with new battery tech that has yet to be invented.

Member when Volkswagen got completely fricked because they were gaming emission standards?

Tons of unsellable inventory because they didn’t have properly approved emissions. But they weren’t likely to kill people in them or other cars on the road in an accident.

Doesn’t the weight of those things pose problems for bridges as well? If all cars were electric. I feel like there was a study a while back

Apparently we need to keep throwing a watchmaking physicist into a death trap until we accidentally generate Dr Manhattan.

Telling.

Tell me this; Do you think bridges that carry 80k pound trucks all day long are going to be overstressed due to EVs?

I was watching the local KC news last evening and they showed a report on EV crash tests into safety barriers and guard rails, every barrier was mowed over, like a hot knife through butter. The report essentially determined current safety barriers and guard rails are ineffective to stop EVs which typically weigh significantly more than comparable gas vehicles.

You think your 1/2 ton PU weighs the same as a 1/2 ton PU that's battery powered?

The report I watched yesterday evening on the local news was a EV pickup truck crashing through guardrails.

The real important question is whether or not they used black crash test dummies in the name of diversity

What part of "the vast majority of EVs" do you not understand?

I know you're fricking stupid, aka Cult45, but come on. It's right in the quote you posted.

Now if you, or the OP, could be bothered to post a link to these tests a discussion concerning their findings might be possible. Instead it seems you just want to shite on EVs while remaining uninformed.

Which is the least surprising thing ever.

This is self-evidently false.

Parking decks could be a problem too, for weight and fire.
