The SGA doesn't matter in the least until they do something dumb like this. The university will correct and allow them to become a campus organization.

90% of people who wish to be in SGA during their college years are complete losers who will never accomplish anything of substance.

I've stated this before. Though disappointed, I prefer our war out in the open. And UTaC just advertised.

Based on my research, there is one primary registered student organization at UTC focused on LGBTQ interests: Spectrum, the university's Queer Collective. It promotes activism, education, and community events for queer students, including pride initiatives and support gatherings. This contrasts with the denial of conservative groups like Turning Point USA under similar scrutiny.

Is Chattanooga turning all artsy and progressive?

It did about 20 years ago. They were incentivizing artists to move there. A bunch of libs from Atlanta who didn't like it was getting so expensive moved there, along with the same types from Nashville. Basically, it's a bigger Ashville now.

This is not accurate at all. I get getting all mad at stuff, but read everything and get it right. It was APPROVED by the Dean of Students. This is just some Student Government Association that has zero authority.

LINK

quote:

The UTC Dean of Student’s Office has determined that Turning Point USA is approved as a Registered Student Organization, UTC officials said on Thursday morning.

That came after the UTC Student Government Association recommended that the chapter not be approved.

Officials said, “As part of the process of becoming a Registered Student Organization at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, the Dean of Student’s Office has completed its review of a group of students’ application to establish a chapter of Turning Point USA on campus. The Dean of Student’s Office has determined that Turning Point USA is approved as a Registered Student Organization.

“While the Student Government Association may voice opinions, recognition of student organizations is determined by the UTC Dean of Students and Chancellor.

Turning Point USA has been authorized in accordance with university policy and the law.”

Turning Point USA is a group that was led by conservative leader Charlie Kirk. Mr. Kirk, who was shot and killed on Sept. 10, often visited college campuses to dialogue with students.

UTC officials said on Wednesday, “A group of students is currently working to register a chapter of Turning Point USA as a recognized student organization at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. All organizations who properly complete the registration process will be recognized by the University.

"On Tuesday, the Student Government Association voted to recommend the student organization not be approved. The vote is a recommendation to the Dean of Students Office, who makes the final decision. The Dean of Students’ decision will be made in accordance with University policy and the law.

"As with any student group, the University is working to ensure the students are appropriately supported as they navigate the process of registering a new student organization.”

Meanwhile, hundreds of UTC students walked out of classes and marched in protest of changes to DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) organizations based on recent federal and state law.

Sounds like good preparation for real world government then.

So in a cursory look, they don't have anything too bad.

Democratic socialists
One gay club only that I saw

The rest are sports and a few sprinkled like black women in medicine.

Right...so the question is: Is TPUSA "too bad" to have as a registered student organization?

Their SGA says yes.

Free speech isnt free.

At least thats what I learned from Reddit, when they outlawed it and classified it as hate speech.

This is a problem.

And while you're at it, stop using fricking Twitter as a news source. This Benny Johnson clown provided no link to any source.

Seriously...his source for a thread starter is a fricking unverified tweet?

And it's also pretty comical that two dipshits downvoted you because apparently they refuse to believe that someone from the right is capable of promoting fake news. But that's exactly what this was...some moron promoting fake news because he's too fricking lazy to verify the information.

Agreed. I experienced it up close and personal. I was a student senator at UF in 1987.
