Maybe, New Orleans had a lot more room for error back then. LaToya is essentially a more honest SWB

NOLA's problem is the tax base moved to JP, STP, and South Mississippi years ago, and they're still walking around with their heads up their asses, trying to survive on a HRT Tax. Large Banking, Shipping, and Oil interests with sweetheart deals contribute little to the City's tax coffers, esp when all their employees vacate the city at 5PM daily.

Whats yellow and black and sleeps 8...a S&WB truck.

This laissez faire attitude has doomed NOLA historically, and a never changing corrupt political climate, will never allow it to change,

If this looks like it’s going to go through they are all getting a good $300-$400 increase or they are out. Sorry guys

Is that all? I dont know what youre charging for rent, but whatever it is, i’d *at least* double it before rent control sets in.

I mean, i can see both sides— lots of thriving cities like LA, SF and NYC have rent control, but like someone said, not sure if NOLA as the housing stock for it.. then again, i’m a homeowner in Orleans Parish, so ultimately my prop value might go up since someone else mentioned that rent control limits housing availability.. either way, it seems to me like this entire thread is an overreaction since Cantrell was only allowed to give a one word, yes or no, answer to the question of whether she’d favor any type of rent control.. that doesnt allow for much nuance, and it’s possible that she hasnt given it one second more thought beyond that one word answer.

Good points.

And as far as what I would do, I’m probably not more than 5 years away from selling all the properties so i just need a lift to bring it back to the market rate. That way if someone vacates I’m not stuck at a lower rate.
