Hopefully this is the beginning of the abolishment of denominations. The larger the organization the easier it is for liberals to infiltrate it.

Churches and govt need to be run locally. Not federally or locally.

I have no doubt the 2024 general conference will see the removal of the gay prohibition from the book of disciplines though.
More likely to just continue to ignore it. We are a fairly large Church by Ms standards and we are disaffiliating. We've yet to decide whether we are going to go non-denominational or join the Global Methodist Church. I've spent so much energy on disaffiliating I honestly have not studied enough about the pro's and con's to go GMC vs independent. Disaffiliating had a hard stop date (Dec 31, 2023). Next step has no such date.

Didn't they already meet and vote globally to keep marriage traditionally? This happened before covid. Why have another vote when they already voted?

The book of discipline was narrowly approved to maintain "officially" that gay marriage and ordination were not compatible with scripture in the last conf. That's in writing only... Not in practice. There were churches that started leaving because the book of discipline was not being enforced and those churches saw the writing on the wall. Other churches willing to stay because they thought they could maintaine the position of the book of discipline... Then saw the writing that as more and more traditional churches left...so did traditional votes;so, an avalanche of churches from a trickle. Now the progressive sees it has the majority and can get the book of discipline officially recognizing gay marriage and ordination

I think Acts 15 presents a Presbyterian form of church government. I don't think having a Pope in every congregation is better than having just one in Rome. It's not healthy to have no accountability for a congregation, nor recourse for a member if the leadership of that congregation goes off the rails. Checks and balances are needed.

This is a great summary. Thanks for sharing.

The halt on disaffiliation in North Georgia has gone over like a turd in a punch bowl.

I find this very hard to believe for any non homosexual male but even if we grant you this, you are still knowingly posting material that most certainly leads others into temptation. I am guilty of every sin under the sun but agree with the posters calling you out on this. You raised the bar for yourself when you said you are a Christian.

“But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.”

The best way to think about it would be, would you want your kids or your wife to see all those photos? Because someone else’s son may be seeing those and it might be leading them into temptation. I highly doubt you’d feel comfortable bringing those photos to your church and passing them out to admire them for God’s creation.

Look at the last two bishops for the state of LA to see who is/has been leading the denomination in the state.

The current bishop is a black female on whose Facebook is a “justice for George Floyd” post. The previous bishop was a Hispanic female who praised Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Facebook.

Makes me want to puke. I’m surprised more local churches haven’t left- especially in rural conservative areas

Let him be, he probably feels closer to God now.

Being judgemental is the cornerstone of many people's religion here.
