Correct. If YOU reengage conversation with the cops then that’s on you.

Could attempt to. At that point the police either arrest you because they have probable cause to do so, or they let you leave.

However, they also can detain you while they conduct an investigation to determine if there is probable cause to arrest you.

Yep. Totally your choice. Saying "I don't want to talk" isn't a "cop can't talk to me" get of of jail free card.

Read the article. I didn’t make that determination.

He's making fun of you, smooth brain

The term is not 'warranties search', it's warrantless search, and even then it's not really a thing when they search you and your possessions when being arrested

For how long? Does this vary by state or jurisdiction?

You can be detained without being arrested and the cops will tell you that are not free to leave while they investigate.

Since when does this apply to a bag you had with you when you were arrested?

After arrest, yes they can inventory you. But then a defense attorney would attack the arrest itself. Such as no probable cause. Then anything in the bag is fruit of the poisonous tree and excluded.

No set time and it depends on the type of stop, but it must always be reasonable and no longer than necessary to complete the purpose of the stop.

Could you imagine if this lawyer were to win this argument?

We already have situations where stupid cops don't perform a thorough enough search and get injured by perps. This lawyer winning this argument would just be inviting this to happen every time.

It’s part of the US Constitution/Bill of Rights. You should read it sometime.

Until the investigation is complete and they've determined if there is or isn't probable cause to arrest you.

In this case, they definitely had probable cause. Even if his statements are inadmissible in court, they were definitely enough to give the police probable cause to arrest him.

This seems incredibly subjective.

It is. That is why you are entitled to a probable cause hearing.
