Twitter suspends Alex Jones for one week after violating company rules

The social network said in a statement that Jones' account "currently has limited functionality." Jones was told the account would regain full functionality seven days after the removal of a tweet with "a broadcast in violation of our rules."
The decision, according to The New York Times, was made after Jones tweeted a link to a video calling for supporters to get their “battle rifles” ready against media and others.

The enforcement applies to both Jones' Twitter and Periscope accounts.

I don't do a lot of tweeting or Alex Jones, but I see much worse shite at any number of places and coming from all kinds of folks on the internets every day it seems.

I'm not a big fan of Jones, but to hell with Stelter and the other assholes at CNN. They have turned into activists trying to censor content

This is largely a trial balloon. They know that Infowars is fringish (however big for being on the fringe). If they get away with that, it's not that big a push to get the Crowders, Prager Us, Jordan Petersons, Ben Shapiros shut down for similar reasons.
The slippery slope is a real thing at times. This is one of those times. And we are unlikely to see a similar push against those on the fringe left because the left doesn't believe there is a limit on that side.

Twitter's CEO has been publicly defending their decision to not ban Jones for the last week. Repeating over and over that Jones had not violated their rules.
When he finally did violate their rules, they suspended his account for 7 days.
Really doesn't seem like Twitter's goal is to "silence" anyone.

Twitter is apparently deleting accounts as we speak. I’ve lost a lot of followers today and a lot of other people on my twitter are losing followers in masses. It’s begun ladies and gentlemen. Free speech for conservatives is under attack. We can not give an inch on any gun control in this country. We’ll be doomed if that happens
