The Hill

Fox News's Tucker Carlson is nearly doubling the ratings of his predecessor, Megyn Kelly, when compared to the same time period last year, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Tucker Carlson Tonight" is up 95 percent in the 25- to 54-year-old demographic that advertisers covet most compared with the same period in 2016, when "The Kelly File" occupied the 9 p.m. ET time slot.

Carlson has averaged 775,000 viewers per night in the category, while Kelly averaged 398,000 during the same time period, Jan. 11–22.

I have to admit that I am one of these new viewers. I have not regularly watched a news opinion show on tv for years but have found myself really enjoying Tucker's show.

I love Tucker as well, but I think a lot of his viewers are tuning in to see him continually destroy liberals. Once the luster of Trump as Prez wears off, his numbers should taper off as well IMO.

Possibly so, but at this time last year we were in the middle of a wild race to the white house and much of the controversy was centered around Kelly because of her recent spat with Trump. At a time to see viewers peak in a wild race, she made a move that cost her many viewers.

Yea I agree. I don't think she handled the fight too well and that cost her. Where did she go anyway? MSNBC?

he doubles her in the key demo, which is male

expected and also she never did very well with the key demo as a percentage of her audience.

he is doing better, but he'll need to do it for a while. I think he will.

I'm not sure watching liberals get destroyed will ever get old.

his first week was rough. the first episode was more Hannity/o'reilly than tucker. he seemed to be getting away from his thing, plus Obama's last speech took an entire episode from him.

he's been back to what made him an instant ratings success though. it's the only cable news show I dvr. he's killing it

I prefer him for many reasons, but to look at isn't one.

no, but if you're a male from your mid 20s to mid 40s, tucker is relatable. Plus he has a more youthful approach. he frequently highlights stories and discussions that aren't being covered by mainstream outlets, but on twitter and other social media. he also looks about 10 years younger than he is. if you suck, it doesn't really matter, but if you're good, it certainly helps to be a part of the most coveted demographic. abc is the only network that isn't niche (bravo for example) that values female viewership above male viewership.

BM has apparently declared war on Matt Lauer, too. We'll see how that turns out.

Hell, Fox should grab up Lauer to replace Hissy Fit Shep.

That got her a bigger payday, on a bigger network, and with hours more amenable to her. She´s no dummy.

Thems the facts. Not going to comment on whether I like her or not.

Don't you know it's because he's a man and she's a woman. It's the clearest evidence of the misogynistic patriarchy women are forced to live under.

It has nothing to do with the fact that Meghan had terrible delivery and seemed smug and disingenuous on all her points.

Just like Hillary losing had nothing to do with her being a terrible candidate. It's solely because they are women

Yeah it worked, But she was already loaded. She wants to succeed on network, and I don't think she can do network tv. A daytime show isn't really suited to her strengths.

Yeah I think they both came off smelling like a rose. Longer term will be what is interesting to see.

Trudat, but right now they have some false bravado to use as a crutch. He'll eventually become the neighborhood bully and libs will just avoid him.

Fox, Tucker and Kelly are winners for sure

NBC is the loser. She'll be on MSNBC evening lineup in a year. Book it
