Sometimes people forget that LBJ was the master of the Senate. He had connections all through Congress that allowed him to get stuff passed.
Trump is an outsider. He needs to have reliable allies to stand up and fight in the trenches on Capitol Hill. Republicans who are worth a damn are few and far between.
And you’re right: with those like Braun, it wouldn’t matter.
