If you want a film that glorifies the South....I'd go with Gods and Generals.

Gods And Generals is done by the same people who did Gettysburg, which is supposed to be a very faithful adaptation of The Killer Angels.

I’m not personally vouching for it but I think that would probably be a better bet than Lincoln.

It's got some soap opera-ish qualities to it, but the 1980's mini-series North and South is very good.

I like that it starts off pre-Civil War. Like pre-Mexican War, pre-Civil War. It’s a nice snapshot of that period, especially of what life at West Point was like.

Ride with the Devil is a good one.

Watch them both, in no particular order.
If you like Civil War history both are really good.
I have never seen Lincoln, somebody give me some input.

I’m just looking for a realistic view not necessarily a southern or northern view. Sure I live in the south but the south were democrats so I’m really indifferent and don’t feel like I have a bias. I just want to watch.

All I know is Spielberg produced it so that’s why I’m skeptical.

The greatest is when Lincoln goes into storytelling mode and his trolls in congress get pissed lmao I want to watch that movie now. Daniel Day Lewis rules

Gods and Generals

Robert E Lee comes off poorly, but the rest is very accurate. Jeff Daniels as Chamberlain is excellent and makes a stirring speech when defending little round top.
Other portrayals are terrific.

While Gods and Generals is great, Gettysburg is amazing. No CG, all re enactors. So many great scenes.

Not a fan.

Gods and Generals and Gettysburg are far superior IMO

Yes, I did too. Patrick Swayze did some incredible acting in that show. Beautiful actresses don't hurt either.

It's more historically accurate than Gods and Generals or Gettysburg.
