quote:Quite the admission. Price controls are like saying “we won’t play Alabama unless they give us 10 for a touchdown and 6 points for field goals”.
you are a free market purist, this is not good. But China has been eating our lunch for years with very little in return. Our middle class was destroyed.

Ive understood price controls since I was in my teens, Jethro. Free Enterprise taught in HS.
You just learned today.

Yep, .375 BA and 2-0 pitching record.
If you made it past 10th grade you too would have known what price controls are.

quote:Silly. We haven’t been “getting our asses kicked”. But let’s pretend that’s true for a second… is the reason we’re losing because of a lack of price controls? Or would it be because our cost for labor and production is higher than anywhere else on the planet.
MAYBE it's the fact that we have been getting our asses kicked for so long at least we see a President making REAL moves rather than bloviating about some modest bullshite agreement that never benefits us and the media uses it to glow up whoever is at the current helm.
We are tired of losing. We need men of action.
If you want to be competitive with China on labor costs, the real “fix” is a massive reduction in our standard of living. Price controls is a sure way to get us ther, so I guess that’s “success”? But I doubt its the kind of “success” you think is coming.

Theyve been told a million times, links have been posted, stats have been posted and they still repeat this ignorance.
If they want to win the trade war, they better be ready to reduce their lifestyle by a lot.

quote:Literally the same thing the Soviets said. “Capitalism sucks, it’s destroying our socialist utopia”. It’s exactly why they had a closed economy and price floors.
Please explain how the free market would work against an adversary artificially lowering prices through government subsidies in order to destabilize our economy.

Between buying stock in corporations and price controls, they'll be huge AOC fans soon.

Hawley has been sounding like Bernie and AOC lately
Look, normally I don’t give a rip what a CEO of a random company makes. Doesn’t affect my life whatsoever.
But he has a point. It’s screwy to have rank and file workers averaging $38k yearly while JUST the CEO is making over $40 million yearly. Then add in the expense of other top heavy leadership.
