Yep, and if you cross the Sabine to get the same vehicle in Texas because it's $5k less, you gonna get taxed on that savings if you want to register it in Louisiana.
You pay taxes in the state you live in.
I live in Texas, bought three vehicles in La. But my friends and relatives own dealerships. You only pay taxes in your place of residence!

It is not a good thing in a Democratic Constitutional Republic to fear govt interference, retribution or punishment.
It isn't but it's gone on for decades, probably longer
Of course when Trump does it suddenly people notice

No, but we also don't want greedy executives to raise the price of vehicles. The entire point is too give American jobs and make vehicles more affordable. Especially with the 25% tax credit Trump has been pushing for automobiles manufactured in America.

Sounds like government getting too involved in business...

And now Trump doesn't get to when he is trying to pull us out of an economic mess?
If we're in such an "economic mess: then why are Trump's first two priorities to spend $500b on an AI Data Center and "Golden Dome" defense $100b boondoggle. Can you explain how either helps build our economy?
And btw, on NO planet is Trump is entitled to dictate to private business how they run their business with the same authoritarian iron fist as FDR, Nixon, and any other tyrant. Unless you actually thought you voted for a police state and serfdom.
Donald Trump was elected as EO of the USA INC. Not a Kingdom.

Look, given the two choices we had in the last election, Trump was the only choice. That wasn't a mistake. The mistake was during the primary season.
And I like some of the stuff he does, and some of it is stuff that no one else has the guts to do.
But this is exactly why I lamented the fact that the Republican base has abandoned conservatism in favor of populism during the primaries last time around.
When there are no principles behind the agenda, the agenda can go anywhere. Right, far right, left, very far left, there are no guardrails.
People here love to hate Roger (and I have had some disagreements with him myself), but he's absolutely right about populism. It's a collectivist philosophy and it will eventually reduce down to some form of far left government.
I've been called a Democrat during the Trump era on here for not liking his leftist economics, while changing very little in my political philosophy (economic being the most static), when I used to be celebrated routinely for my freedom-first economic rhetoric.
The amount of mental gymnastics to call me a Democrat is...something

If they’re raising prices simply because they can, then all the lip service they previously paid to being “American made” was just marketing. Right?
And the reverse is also true. If a customer doesn't want to pay for US-made shoes and clothes and tools just because they cost more, then all their talk about bringing manufacturing back is also little more than marketing BS.

You retards are insane. New car prices are up 100% in 25 years
Calm down.
How much has the dollar declined and been devalued in 25 years? How much has labor and material risen in cost in the last 25 years?
Maybe some correlation to consider?
