Natives here had a choice of forming corporations or keeping traditional tribal status when Nixon signed ANCSA. Only one group opted for tribal status, the rest chose corporate status.

Cherokee nation already did this. This helps to pay and expand those afford mentioned services. When government funding is short. We have both tribal status and a tribal corporation....why would getting rid of one of those help us?

Oh Roger while indian health services provides the federal part of our healthcare system it's not our only exclusive provider. We partner with them and it provides the base while we also contribute from our billion dollar holding company in partnership with them..... We all started somewhere and got support when we were younger to build us into the people we became. Ignoring that infrastructure and how we got to achieve what we did is foolish and selfish. Even if systems aren't perfect ignoring or championing their destruction isn't a solution. Investing in their improvements will improve outcomes.

60%+ of natives will vote Democrat. They'll also continue to suffer incredibly high rates of drug/alcohol abuse, child rape, missing women and disease because of their dependence on the federal govt which gives them zero incentive to be productive.

I've worked with a few Lumbee over the years.
They not recognized. 1 they are mainly black
Traded thier lands for 2 cases of liquid in the late 1800s.
Other native tribes don't recognize them. So I don't either
