None of this matters much yet. It will start to matter in 6 months when most people start to pay attention to the race. Most of my solid Republican buddies are way too busy with work and life than to follow the stuff we do everyday here.

Exactly. Huge for the R nomination

This is probably the most meaningless poll you’ll see. No R is winning California.

Trump hadn't even announced yet in 2015 and he was polling in low single digits. Obama was a joke in '07 compared to Hillary. Bill Clinton wasn't even on the radar in '91.
Polls this far out are pretty meaningless when you are comparing someone with Universal Name ID vs someone who is new. It's basic rules of politics, most people simply aren't paying attention yet.

awesome. Trump leads in a state where the Republicans will lose by a few million.

Sooo it doesn’t matter for the R nomination?
Posted on 5/28/23 at 10:37 am to jbdawgs03
California literally has more Republicans than any other state in the union.
Trump got over six million votes there.

It matters for the nomination. I assume most Trump supporters only care about the nomination anyway.

And that’s why it matters. State polling is what should be looked at monitored for trends. National is pointless. The winner of California gets a huge victory over his or her opponents. If I’m not mistaken we’re moving up our primary next year so we’ll have more of an impact. It can be a big momentum boost if the primary is closely contested.
