Why can't the US profit from NATO. We invest so many resources into our military to defend foreign governments.

I feel that if we stay in, we are entitled to 15% of our allies GDP (or whatever amount of $ they pledged to their military but absconded on). They either pay or we leave.

We should also force Mexico to pay us at least 10% of their GDP to pay for all the illegal immigration and incompetence of their terrible government. We should either negotiate or threaten a nuclear option.

I know I sound harsh, but I'm honestly a patriot at heart and I feel that the US should benefit more from its efforts.

No, he did say they should pay the obligations by treaty they're supposed to but don't

You live in Leesville. If we nuke Juarez and the wind is blowing north you're gonna die.

Or we could just nuke the middle east.

That is an asinine idea. We can't blackmail other countries. We'd lose a lot of allies that way.

Plus, you know, NATO is the only thing that deters Russia.

Hello oil... in the 30-50 years minimum it will take for the radiation to die down enough to go get it.

Chernobyl is still unsafe for people to remain there.

OP doesn't understand how NATO works. Bilateral agreements between countries are better for everyone especially the USA!

No.

The NATO treaty assigns a NATO-wide defense contribution of TWO-PERCENT, 2%, 1/50th, i.e., a very small amount of each country's GDP. Yet most have fallen away from that obligation. We've covered much of the difference. Trump basically said either pay up or GTFO.

The deal we made with the other NATO countries took the burden off foreign governments and we assumed it because it was great for the Military Industrial Complex.

Really.

True, but most of America's interest on foreign soil is due to corporations.
