This. It’s been reported it’s only one high ranking official
My guess is one of the higher ups is less of an ideologue secretly and is taking advantage of the situation to work with Trump, hoping he will not only survive but be seen as the reasonable one and get the green light from us to restore order, take control and purge the remaining radicals

They don't want to give Trump a clean victory. They will drag this out until November. Trump really screwed up here.

If Trump pulls off finding one that can pull off taking charge and do it by helping that person, then it is possible we get a situation similar to what Trump did in Venezuela. Jury is still out on Venezuela - but so far it looks good.
