There is a big difference in the Eastern Roman Empire - a nation/state - defending its citizens against invasion by a foreign power - whether Muslim or not - versus beginning a Crusade against some nebulous enemy based on religious beliefs.

None of the Crusades - outside of the 1st - were successful in doing anything to protect Christian inhabitants nor European pilgrims. Furthermore, the Crusaders did not stand shoulder to shoulder with the Eastern Roman Empire to withstand the Ottoman invasions.

It was the very assaults on the East by the West that weakend it and opened it up to conquer by the Ottomans.

I guess this on the first page isn’t regarding forced belief either?

i have no clue why you said this- theres a long memory in orthodoxy of the 4th crusade- the establishment of the latin empire- the slaughter of latins by orthodox in Constantinople, its widely known. You are being sly with your povs and avoiding the plot of this conversation. To engage in this conversation any further will lack producing good fruit.
