Joe Biden still trails President Donald Trump in cash, but he’s catching up.

Biden and the Democratic National Committee hit an all-time monthly fundraising record in May, bringing in $80.8 million. That total topped Trump and the Republican National Committee, which together raised $74 million over the same period.

But Trump — who has been able to jointly fundraise with the Republican Party at higher levels as the Republican presidential nominee for months — leads Biden in cash on hand, $265 million to $122.2 million, an all-important number that shows how much the candidate and committee can still spend. Notably, May was the first full month Biden raised money in tandem with the DNC, drafting off of a joint fundraising agreement that allowed individual donors to give more than $620,000.

The story goes on to discuss the super pacs and overall spending. Long story short, Biden raised about $6 million more than Trump this past month but Trump owns a huge advantage in the war chest. $265M to $122M.

Most of that was probably raised through BLM.

That money funneling operation through BLM seems to be paying off for Biden like it did for Bernie

Democrats burn down cities. Democrats raise more money. Goes to show you, the more mentally ill the Democrats become, the more money the American hating Marxist throw in the pot.

Didn't the Democrats have a whole debate about how this was too much per person? Bernie and Warren lit ol Pete up over this. Guess Biden is immune.

Joe Biden can forever kiss my arse talking about caring about working class Americans yet every year damn year he was Vice President he would come down to Charleston on a Friday and frick up traffic all over the Lowcountry for the entire day so he could go to a $50,000 a plate on Sullivan’s Island. How about you go back there and get a shiny gold spoon to eat my whole arse with you hair sniffing old bastard.

Honest question.....does money even matter in politics anymore in the age of social media and cable news?

Bloomberg floundered despite vast spending.

hrc outspent trump by 2:1 and lost.

I think we are seeing a decline in the marginal benefit of campaign spending.

it might still help, but other things are now taking on a more important role.

It’s a very factual article, no significant spin that I noticed. It outlines the numbers and is extremely relevant to subject of this board.

That’s a really good question. I think you’re right to a degree. You can get a lot more free publicity now than you used to. Commercials and internet ads still play a significant role though I believe. If for nothing else, a lot of people will inherently believe the more ads they see of a candidate, the more likely it is that candidate will win. Or some feel more of a sense of attachment to the candidate they see more of so they feel more comfortable voting for them.

Just my 2 cents.

dims Keep fundraising off the blood and bodies of dead black people, Mickey. Joe Biden is as much of a corpse as George Floyd.

It's certainly an interesting question. I'd honestly only spend money in battle ground states and counties. Can't think of campaign advertising on such a national scale.

Agreed. It’s really about where you spend your money. Trump doesn’t need to spend a dime in most of the south and the heart of the country. Biden doesn’t need to spend a dime on most of the west coast and New England area.

Didn't that same mentality lose Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Minnesota for Hillary? She basically chalked them up as a win and in the end paid for it. No pun

I read a while back that Michael Bloomberg is going to pump a ton of cash into Biden’s coffers.

100% that’s what happened. I’m not saying ignore everything. I’m saying you don’t need to spend money (or at least anything significant) on the states that are overwhelmingly in your corner. I mean, should trump spend anything in Louisiana? It would be a waste of money.
