We could wave a wand and have no federal government people just won’t do it. They’re constantly wanting a benevolent king and it never pans out that way

How were these students protected prior to Jimmy Carter creating the Department of Education in 1979?
They weren’t.

And our education system is objectively worse by ANY metric since the creation of the Dpt of Education. It's gotta go.

Why? Jimmy Carter waved his wand and created it.
Americans have gotten dumber every decade since.

Do you trust your state to provide accommodations for special needs kids without pressure from the federal government?
I live in Louisiana so I sure as hell don’t.

Then change it or move to a state that's more to your liking.

Define "Special needs kids"?
What was done with them prior to the Dept of Education? They STILL went to school, did they not?
What makes someone a "Special needs kid"?

Locked in a closet and ignored. Still happening now by our oh so special state educators.
There is so much more wrong with our education system and wiping away the DOE won't magically fix it. It seems people think it will. It's a step, but it's not the end game.

No. They didn’t. Many states had laws that explicitly prohibited them from attending school.
Seems like you don’t know very much about the Department of Education or public education in this country, but please continue to make demands about things you know very little about.

A) I still have seen where you define "special needs kids"
B) Change the State laws then. What I DO know is that... across the board... public education by and large is an abject failure. Since the creation of the Department of Education... we've gone from 1st.. that Number 1.. to what... 28th... in the world in education. That's not good and that's not right. But by all means, lets trash the entire public school system to cater to some Special Needs kids. Look. I'm sorry you are Special Needs, whatever that is, but you are dragging everyone else down because we are teaching to the lowest common denominator rather than the highest.
C) If you are for it... that tells me it's probably a bad thing and if you are against doing away with it... that tells me it's gotta go.
