This is what's wrong with this country. Why should Trump publicly sympathize with this family and not the 15 year old girl who was killed last weekend in Chicago or the other nine killed there? No one cares about them.

Personally, I don't think a president should weigh in on issues such as this until there has been some formal disposition. The President should not knee jerk and make some statement before the facts are known or an investigation done. Remember when Obama said that if he'd had a son, he'd have looked like Treyvon? Yeah...how'd that work out for him? His place is to send the DOJ to investigate, which he did.

There is nothing he can do beyond getting DOJ and FBI involved, which has been done.
Controlling the frickhead rioters/looters is what local government should be doing.

A lot of replies to this thread are as bad as “Bad Twitter”. Criticizing Trump in any way provokes a knee-jerk reaction from so many of you.
Trump has chosen Twitter to be his “fireside chat”, a way to talk directly to the people without pundit filters. I think that’s good.
Look at his Twitter form the last 24 hours, though. Vast majority is about social media censorship, which is just too easy to spin as him saying he is being unfairly treated.
The only posts about Minneapolis are calling the rioters thugs (they are) and local leaders weak (they are, too).
He’s not using this to send messages of “We will get through this” or any other kind of calming rhetoric.
I am not arguing that he should be intervening with any actual power. This is a local issue.
It’s idiotic, though, to think this is not a nationwide topic right now, and messaging matters.
Reagan after Challenger. Clinton after Oklahoma City. Bush after 9/11. The way a President speaks after events like this is a HUGE factor in their image, and this is what he is blowing (and in an election year).
If some of you would step back and stop treating any criticism of him as an attack, you just might realize that what I am saying is I wish he would start saying things that refute the left’s accusations that he doesn’t have the leadership the office requires. Otherwise, we get Joe Biden and whatever identity politics retard he chooses to take over once he steps down in the first year.

So......its' not important ENOUGH to you in MN that people are being ruined, their property being destroyed, the media making a circus of the upheaval, and social media calling out the President of the United States for calling them all out as partisans? Do you not see that the more you treat these so called protestors (mostly imported by acitivist and tyrannical groups) with a 'hands off' approach, the more they are emboldened to continue...ruining more peoples lives and destroying more private property.
