Bowers, who runs his law practice out of an office across the street from the South Carolina statehouse in the capital city of Columbia, has a long history of representing elected officials and political candidates on governmental and election law matters, according to the Bowers Law Office's website. He's previously served as counsel to former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford when he was threatened with impeachment in 2009 for concealing his extramarital affair with an Argentinian journalist.

Yahoo News

Bowers is not MAGA.

Looks like a good call IMHO.

And Now He is Fired

They'll target his lawyer now

This isn't a legal proceeding, it's a crucifixion and this will be far from the worst of it

The only thing Trump can do to possibly protect himself is form his own party. Strategic minded Dems would love to have the final death blow to the Republican Party happen now.

I mean, senators from both sides of the aisle are saying it isn't going to fly and Nancy is already losing her shite over it. Derschowitz says the articles are bogus anyways.

He probably could have hired you or boosie and got his desired result.

Thrown out.

He comes from an old family in Hampton County, SC. They're cotton and peanut farmers. Went to college with a relative of his who's now the mayor of the town of Estill. The Bowers clan down there are all Dixiecrat types as Hampton County is majority black.

Sounds like a White Supremacist

State Security is on their way to escort him and his family to local Party Headquarters

Well, Jesus, man. You and Holden must be a couple of petty bastards if you think this is some sort of "zing" on Trump. "Lol, he hired a Democrat!!"

What the frick does it matter if the senators are already saying that they aren't going to impeach him and drunk Nancy is already out there accusing them of being too "nice, nice" because of it? One of the preeminent constitutional scholars of all time says the articles won't fly.

He probably could have hired me to handle this for him and the only thing I know about the law is just enough to keep my arse out of trouble.

No, dummy, a zing on me.

So sensitive.

I’ve thought the President should have hired real lawyers (and listened to them) for awhile now. This may be the first good news he’s gotten in months.

What’s better for Trump - impeachment thrown out or acquittal?

Trump has to learn to stop trusting these traitors. This is why Bill Barr and Wray were approved. These turned out to be terrible selections. They can not be trusted.
Lindsay threw Trump under the bus when electors needed to be challenged.

I would say acquittal obviously, as it would give him a chance to defend himself. Interesting the dude he hired specializes in election law. I don't even know exactly why they're impeaching him because the fricking allegations are demonstrably false.

Trump hiring an election law specialist is sorta like him saying, "just try it, motherfrickers", imo. But this is exactly why they probably won't even consider it and they'll just throw it all out. They don't want to go to trial with this dude. He has a flush hand.

I hope Trump sues the senate over the mere fact that they are trying a private citizen, trying impeachment articles about an official that's no longer in office.

We need a definitive answer from SCOTUS on this question as its a valid constitutional question imo.
