Exactly. The hospitalization is being made out to be something it isn’t. I don’t understand why I’ve been downvoted for pointing this out. It’s probably a checkup and they’re keeping him in for observation. His messaging about this has been consistent and clear: it might be an inconvenience but it isn’t a big deal. Why else would he be in favor of opening states up? The big man is in zero danger. Probably only still there because the nurses are into him. If I was a betting man I’d wager he’d be home in time to watch LSU-Vandy.

The odds are heavily in his favor to survive it. But there is a chance, probably under five percent, that he doesn’t. I DON’T WISH FOR THAT. But you can’t close your eyes to it.
Regardless, he won’t be himself for 2 to 3 weeks. That is terrible timing for him.

I honestly don’t see it. If the risks to him were genuinely a 5% chance this could do any serious damage or be fatal there is no way he would have have been holding campaign rallies, mingling at the ACB event, etc. If your numbers were right that would be plainly stupid behavior and Trump is not stupid. Like any other strain of influenza it can be bad for 95 year-olds, but not Trump. He should make a statement by getting back to work in the hospital on Monday. He will personally prove what he has been saying since February: hoax!

Fair point. I looked it up and can see it’s been manipulated by the Democrats in an ad so I withdraw it. I confused it with his comment two weeks ago that it “affects virtually nobody”. I’ve seen nothing to dissuade my view that he knows what he’s talking about and it won’t affect him!

Why is everybody concerned all of a sudden? Trump has the best advice and the best medical minds around him and that informs what he says. This has taken the coverage off of a shaky debate performance, and will generate some sympathy from voters. Additionally, Biden has pulled his attack ads, and the media won’t be running 100% negative stories and attacks for the first time in 5 years. That’s pretty good timing a month out of the election.
Statistically, he’s very likely to emerge in 8 days recovered, rested, and ready to campaign, debate, and hold rallies.

I respect and appreciate that. And if he had been diagnosed with something serious like cancer then this would absolutely make sense. But he hasn’t. He has a sniffle. The official position is that it affects virtually no one. I just don’t get the cause for concern. Trump clearly hasn’t been worried about it for six months and isn’t worried now, so my sense is that there’s no need for anybody else to be.

Agree 100%. Any electoral interference from foreign powers, or any significant private debt owed to lenders in foreign countries, would be a genuine threat to national security. I don’t fully appreciate HRC’s connections with Russia or China for example but no doubt that’s something the GOP can safeguard against in a way the Dems can’t. That’s before we get started on Hunter Biden and Ukraine no doubt.
