Now THAT is ridiculous. Sorry. What was BTC marketcap in March 2020? If you know that, you should understand how silly your presumption is.

was that based on control over bitcoin??

I didnt say btc would be worth 30k or 60k and up. I said it couldnt be controlled as in it cant be shut down and stopped.

Sure you can make it illegal and make it hard, but every country in the world is not going to outlaw crypto. SO if a group of countries decide to do so, just opens up oppurtunity for others.

its straight capitalism.

exactly my point. making it illegal doesnt stop it, nor does it stop it for the rest of the world.

The US should be doing the opposite and embracing crypto. If not they will be behind.

"Investment" is a consideration of risk vs return. If the risk includes losing your job, home, and jailtime, the ROI had better be obscene.

Nations are self-serving with regard to national interests. Control is basis of that service.

The US maintains the world's reserve currency. Perceived threats to that status could result in action.

Fair warning: China has opposing interests. You noted the CCP banning bitcoin for its citizens. It did. Why? Perhaps getting its own people out would be a logical proposition for a national manipulator to undertake.

If the US eventually acts against BTC, action will be based on money laundering. It is a reasonably presentable concern. As you've seen with the Biden international tax initiative, if the US moved against the digitals, other countries would likely tag along.

If you'd propose a banning environment would cause prices to do anything but collapse, you're living in a fairytale.

I'm not advocating against BTC. In fact, I rather like the potential to reduce cost of international currency exchange. Nor I'm not saying "These things will happen. Sell, sell, sell!" I am simply saying from a risk standpoint, it could.

It wont be long until the government starts its own cryptocurrency that they can track and promotes it more than covid vaccinations.

They'll say your yucky cash has germs and is old fashioned but what they really dont like is the tax revenue they miss out on cash purchases.

bitcoin is the precurser to the world wide accepted cryptocurrency coming soon.

That's a fact.
They need to hurry the hell up if they want the dollar to remain the reserve currency because the Chinese recognized this early and have already made a digital Yuan. That's one of the reasons they keep making threats at other crypto is to try to get as much Chinese crypto converted to the Dyuan as possible so they can control money leaving the country.

I love Trump, but he doesn't understand Crypto and it makes no difference what he, or any other world leader says about it. It's inevitable. I just hope they can keep all the luddites crying about it and calling it a scam for awhile longer so the prices will stay down and I can accumulate more. This is 1848 gold rush. 1849 is right around the corner.

If the dollar collapses, what is Bitcoin worth?

I am not against this stuff, I just don't understand how it can be a hedge against the dollar, when it is valued in dollars...

It's also valued in every other currency plus all cryptos. You think of it in terms of dollars because that's easiest for you to relate to. It has no bearing on the value of the asset. This is nothing but math.

There have been many reserve currencies over human history. They don't last long. The dollar is just another one. We could have had it last a lot longer but the last fifty years of flooding the market with more and more dollars pulled out of thin air has diluted their value significantly, and we have just quadrupled our efforts there. It's inevitable now. So the real question is what's the next reserve currency.

It may not be bitcoin. But Bitcoin is the next gold. And that's a good place to be when the paper becomes worthless.

absolutely. Im not a bitcoin is going to change the world guy.

my point is that it is in the US best interest to get in front of the coming crypto age and be the leader rather than risking the control that the dollar currently has.
