How would they possibly know without cutting off the H1Bs for a couple years? Do away with them and see if companies start to struggle. My guess is that there are plenty of folks to fill most, if not all, of the positions being filled by H1Bs.

This isn’t going to be a popular take but here goes. I run a small software development company. Up until about 5 years ago I had all state side developers. The younger developer generation is very entitled, lacks work ethic and demands high salaries. We moved to offshore. I can hire 3 offshore developers for 1 state side and get better employees. They almost never complain, don’t miss much work and get their shite done on time.

Uh oh... You've done it now.

The way we teach kids involves developing a much stronger abstract reasoning component and problem solving, which is why our university system is unmatched. That rote memorization stuff becomes less important when thinking becomes important and we fly past everybody then.

Yep. Even our standardized testing requires deductive reasoning and using analytical skills to resolve problems.

LMAO, come on, man. You know that's not what happens. Americans train the H1B and then the H1B and his mob take over.

Look at this bullshite.

Sounds like Bessent is saying we need Indians to train Americans to properly do their job.

This is called "coping."

It doesn't help that some element of MAGA will give him a pass on this.

And while that particular "some element of MAGA" has shrunk in the last six months, I don't think it's going to get any smaller. At this point there's nothing the die-hards won't defend. Eat the rich, muh fair share; they'll echo anything he does.

when there are entire news articles that show that this model is not working,

It's clearly working for some of them or they wouldn't do it. There's a poster in this topic that it's working for.

And if it's not working for them and they stubbornly stick to their script they'll pay the price just like any other business that zigs when they should zag. People who hire Americans in those jobs will win out with their economic efficiency.

Bring on the commies. Better than wage slave neocon boomerism.

Umm, can I vote for a civil war at least before we jump to Communism?

I'd like to at least pull out a W or go down swinging before giving into to the Red Menace.

Yeah that's freaking stupid shite right there.

Nobody gets trained by H1B people

Sure they might have a degree and some bullshite experience on their resume, but most of the ones ive worked with are awful and slow.

in general they are dumber than a sack of rocks

I meant "wrong" as in there's something greedy about it. That subtext runs through this topic every time it comes up.

It may or may not be a good business decision. Some of them obviously believe it is, but if it's not they'll pay the price.

Unless you’re directly comparing H1B recipients to their American job competitors, then it doesn’t change my point.
