You don't seem to understand what a charitable foundation is...

And you don't seem to understand that the Trump Foundation was, on a very small scale, and what the Clinton Foundation was, on a very large scale.

Not at all...it's a charitable foundation. This has literally no effect on the Trump family at all.

Clueless

A means to buy favor with persons who influence our government? You are the first person I've seen make this claim. Could you expand on it?

Why yes, you absolutely are. It's astounding to watch. It's just a charitable foundation. Dissolving it is nothing more than paperwork. Then you set up a new one and go on about your business.

This. The Trump foundation was funded with about 90 percent of its assets coming from the Trump companies. All this does is put more money in Trumps pocket and less in charitable benefactors. Congrats, leftists?

Right? It's amazing that people think this somehow hurts Trump. He can simply give money to other charities. All this does is kill jobs for the people working at the foundation and end a funding pipeline for some charities. Somehow that's a "victory" to people who can't see two steps down the road.

I know. I was just making a point that the CF was nothing but a pay to play scheme. Their tax filings prove it.

What? The Trump mp foundation? Which filings, specifically? Any 990 I’ve looked at for that foundation showed the vast majority of funds coming from trump. Which filing are you referring to?

And after all that shite talk about the Clinton Foundation
Chelsea Clinton literally had 1 million dollars given to her out of the foundation for her wedding....consequentially, Hillary deducted 1 Million in donations the same year from her taxable income....by donating to the Clinton foundation.

Our Justice system is fricking broken

How is half this thread about Hillary? Whataboutism is pure insanity as a rebuttal for everything, and yet that's all i read in these things.

The fact that the Clintons are unrepentant criminals doesn't change the fact that the Trumps are also unrepentant criminals. It's not an either/or situation.

This is a fallacious crutch everyone should have stopped using in kindergarten--where we learned stuff like two wrongs don't make a right; their behavior doesn't excuse your own--and yet it's trotted out in these political threads consistently as some sort of legitimate argumentative strategy.

Perhaps you aren’t very good at reading. Several of us have pointed out that the end result is just putting more money in trumps pocket. No mention of Hillary. The 990s show that vast majority of funding came from trump. Now instead of charities getting money, trump just keeps it. No deduction but keeps the cash? That’s about a 50 percent increase to Trumps bottom line. Way to go lefties. You showed him.

No mention of Hillary? Or Clinton's? It's quantifiable. Right out in open. The fact that you would argue anything else is...puzzling?

As for substantive arguments, you're claiming Trump was using the charity for only legitimate purposes and this will only negatively impact the potential benefactors?

Well, hisnprivate foundation was funded nearly entirely by him or his entities. If he doesn’t find it moving forward it will result in a net gain for his bottom line. I’ll play along, though. What purposes were illegitimate? What amounts of money are we talking about? Let’s calculate the deduction advantage and run the numbers. It’s a math problem. I’ll anxiously await your input.
