This is akin to saying if someone is fired for stealing they can't be tried for stealing and sentenced to fines and/or jail time.

Hopefully this is simplified enough for Gumbo to fully understand.

The problem is if he even has the want to understand.

This is one of your more particularly retarded shares.

Not surprising it's from Brietbart. I figured CTH, but the old reliable is still kicking out stupidity on the reg I see.

There is nothing interesting or intelligent about this. This is just a content creator trying to sound clever.

Wait, so after the house impeached Trump then the senate has a constitutional duty to hold a trial, they proceed to hold the trial but before they start they pass a resolution that the trial is not constitutional?

Do you have a link to this resolution?

It was actually a Point of Order, so I used the wrong term. I also misremembered the vote: Rather than the vote passing, his initial Point of Order revealed that the Senate would not vote to convict Trump because so many Senators thought the procedure was unconstitutional with Trump already being out of office and a Senate Trial’s entire purpose is to remove POTUS from office.

After senators were sworn in Tuesday afternoon as jurors in the impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump, Sen. Rand Paul quickly pressed for a vote to force lawmakers on the record over the issue of the trial's constitutionality.

The Senate voted 55-45 to reject the Kentucky Republican's argument that the impeachment trial is unconstitutional because Trump is no longer in office.

Just five Republicans — Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Ben Sasse of Nebraska, Mitt Romney of Utah and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania — joined Democrats in voting to table the motion. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., notably voted with most of the GOP conference in support of Paul's motion.

A two-thirds majority is required for a Senate conviction. Paul's point of order likely foreshadows the intentions of most Republican senators during the trial and demonstrates how unlikely it is Democrats will garner the 17 Republican votes needed to convict Trump.

"I think [Tuesday's vote will] be enough to show that more than a third of the Senate thinks that the whole proceeding is unconstitutional, which will show that ultimately they don't have the votes to do an impeachment," Paul told Capitol Hill reporters Tuesday morning.

You have to admit, it’s an interesting theory.

It’s not an interesting theory. It’s stupid. Almost approaching this is so stupid that the “originator shouldn’t procreate” level of stupidity.
