There wasn’t much interest in that matchup. And Thursday Night football sucks and is not good for the league.

I love when you filth recycle the "not real socialsm" argument into other fields

;lol:

I just showed you a Nov 2015 article that said the Top 30 shows of the year in TWENTY FIFTEEN were the NFL. American Idol was crushing the NFL with numbers in the 30s until 2011

The NFL began its dominance then, topping out in the 21s during 2015. Last year they were down to the 17s, falling from 19s in 2016

They don't exactly need to. This was the most watched sporting event since the Super Bowl last year.

Being more popular than other sports is not exactly a measure of success. Not sure what you are getting at.

The NFL product is diminishing and I think they may be losing some of their core fan base. That’s why you are seeing the drops year over year.

And I’m not basing any of my opinions off of anything other than the quality of product on the field and the ratings.

Honestly, I want to watch but just can't. I want to share the experience with my sons....just football. When this issue is fixed, I will watch again. We talk about politics enough at the dinner table, we don't need to during a football game. I understand that the soldiers died so anyone can have this freedom to kneel. But it is an issue of respect, not freedom of speech. I think it is lazy and a lack of principle to watch right now. I hope to watch again before Brees retires.

Why were they low in 2009?

I agree, although it's relevant to keep the perspective that the NFL was/is practically printing money and was in pretty unprecedented territory of popularity (for anything, not just sports) before the slide began. So they obviously have a long way to go before they're in genuine trouble.

I agree with that. I’m not trying to diminish the sport because I truly like it and want it to do well

Just from my perspective, I’ve been a football fan all my life. I started playing fantasy football as a kid when I had to read stats out the paper and manually add my scores.

The game is just less enjoyable to me as I’ve gotten older. Last night I am watching and it just seems like a procedural mess. So much intervention between flags, challenges and commercials.

Couple that with becoming older and not idolizing these guys like a kid would, along with the transparency of media these days to show you that they are usually just guys trying to make money, the appeal is largely lost on me.

So while I don’t think the sport is going anywhere, I just don’t see the compounding growth it had from the 80s through the 90s.

This has never been the football experience.

Whether it's breast cancer awareness, or honoring the troops. The NFL is always pushing something.

So... now that it's out of the way. What's the REAL reason you dont want to watch.

If I didn't like the NFL, I simply wouldn't talk about the NFL. The NFL, liberals, Colin Kaepernick, President Obama, sky screamers, they rule your world because you're weak.

no. You and the other sub 75 IQ drones running around screaming at the sky, assaulting people, etc. have made regular people get involved.

We were happy to let you filth have your little insnaity party so long as you didnt affect too much space, area, and time.

Now you have, racist, and you and your racist filth friends have to be taught a lesson.

Because those "other" issues make sense to me. But until the players go to Chicago and protest black on black violence....which is much greater than police brutality incidents....I won't support them by watching. Or even, just even, if they ADD to their "kneeling message" that we are also kneeling to plead with violent black criminals to stop killing black citizens...some completely innocent....I'll agree to watch again.

See this is a much more truthful answer.

You're not upset about the NFL politicizing issues. That doesn't bother you at all, in fact they may even make you want to watch MORE.

You have an issue with THIS specific issue that the NFL is politicizing.

At least be truthful.

Who are you babbling about?

What lesson are you talking about? Last night I enjoyed an NFL game, had a great time with family and friends. You didn't get nearly as high on life as you claim to, because if you did you wouldn't have found your way into this thread bitching about the NFL.

But here you are, weak and as predictable as usual.
