yeah what we better do is bring in some oversight group to analyze everythign DOGE does to make sure it's all legit. of course, we'll need to make sure that oversight group is on the up and up, so we'll hire a watchdog group to keep an eye on the oversight group to make sure everyone is playing fair. of course, we'll need somebody to manage the watchdog group, because they might have their own agenda....guess maybe we should pass some legislation to manage all this by - that will make this all much more efficient.

Don’t care, they never did anything for me but bundled my VEEP for college. Got a quarter of college paid two months into the next quarter. Fired them got the balence I put in a paid for it all myself working one quarter and schooling the next.

I encourage anyone who is pearl clutching over this to go visit any VA hospital or clinic. The dead weight employed at these facilities is astonishingly frightening.

and that's how you end up with a federal bureaucracy of tens of thousands of people who do next to nothing except soak up a paycheck and make life harder for Americans. i guess it is hypocritical to an extent, but it has to be done.

According to DOGE website, nearly a half million federal workers were hired in last 2 years.
That's 500k out of 2.2 million Feds with under 2 years of fed service.

I could be wrong on this, and please correct me if I am with a neutral source, but it looks more like 140,000 more than Trump’s federal government just before Covid. His federal government was increasing in size also. Size of the government looks fairly consistent over the last 50 years.

The VA is one of those agencies that is easy to feather bed with corruption and waste. Anyone who tries to reform or reduce it gets attacked by people on our side, "You're turning your back on our veterans!!!"

Good, but i would just like to see it cleaned up, and eventually staffed back correctly. I think part of the issue with the VA has to be records systems and trained personnel.

I don't know that this will be a major mistake (all government runs slow inefficient, and wasteful after all). But it does have potential to blow up on his face. This is why DOGE needs to be more public in justifying some of these cuts. Don't just highlight the wasteful crap. I want to know what these 80k employees do, what they contributed, and if they were considered redundant.
