Follow me here. Argenis from Venezuela crosses the border during the Biden administration . He presents himself at the border and is granted temporary status. He is given court dates to appear before the immigration court or file relevant paperwork. He does this. He receives extensions. As of TODAY Argenis IS here legally according to the paperwork that allows him to stay here until a specific date the U.S. government has sent him. He has a temporary SS # ( sorry someone corrected me on what these are called) and pays taxes and has car insurance and a job. He’s legal “ for now”.. Sorta. Kinda. Maybe.

Because if he bumps into an ICE agent he may very well be detained, receive his appearance before an immigration judge and be deported even though he has temporary status for another year or so.

Please someone correct me if I’m wrong. This is just my understanding based on what I’ve personally observed.

IMO, if he's detained, he's detained. But I do hear ya on abuse of those who do have legit paperwork or been here forever.

Back to Argenis -- none of us can be privy to insider info and the special grounds or "legality" under which he obtained his official temp status.

I understand there are cases falling through the cracks. ICE has been over-officious and sloppy in some cases, admittedly.

One one hand some are gonna ask, "how else can we expect 50m illegals to be vetted, processed, and deported?"

Frankly, imo things are sloppy, provocative and over-officious by design. There is a concerted push to create chaotic situations so that the next phase of authoritarian overlording can transition into domestic demands for the next phase of "security": Digital ID mandates.

I do get it. We can't be orchestrating dragnets and arresting people willy-nilly that disrupt the lives of legit, legal people. (We don't even know whether the hastily hired new ICE personnel have been properly vetted or trained.)

We're all in a no-win situation. Yep, things should have never gotten to this cluster-frick stage but here we are.
