If the reports of 10s of thousands killed by the IIRC that would be reason alone in my book.
There is literally nothing more American than saving another country in peril. It’s kind of our thing although we have used this for tremendous advancement since wwii.

We could take Kharg Island anytime we want right now. But since virtually all traffic has ceased, I'm not seeing an advantage.It's further up the Gulf than the Straits. Almost across from Kuwait geographically.
We need to take Bandar Abbas on the Iranian side of the Straits, then you control things without question. Kharg is nothing more than a cubic zirconium. Bandar Abbas is the real diamond.

If Iran is shutting down the straight then it will and has consequences on all of the gulf and Europe.
Wouldn't this be a call to arms for the gulf countries trade being halted and also the rise of cost of goods globally ,but really in Europe??
Iran can act like a baby and do this but is shelf life is very short.

Strategic value of Kharg is negligible at this point. You have to open the Strait for the Gulf Countries to get out its product. Bandar Abbas is the strategic move that loosens the grip.

This is a 2017 reprint of the original article from 1988. As part of this re-publishing, the writer, Polly Toynbee, said "Trump revealed his presidential dream to me in 1988. Now the nightmare begins." I wonder if she wrote an article about the nightmare of Biden's presidency.

Trump was talking about forever wars. You guys trotted this line out during the 12 hour strike on Iran and the 2 hour raid on Venezuela. Pretty sure you guys said the same nonsense about striking terrorists in Yemen.
Why is it so hard for people to understand that "no new wars" does not mean no military action whatsoever?
Trump has been saying we should attack Iran since 1980, so how is this a new war for him? He literally said Iran had to be stopped in his 2015 candidate address. Were you not paying attention?
Maybe if you people actually listened fully to what Trump says instead of clinging to soundbites, then you wouldn't be so confused.
