The issues a CEO of a major hospital has to deal with would make your head spin.
You assume a great deal.
How many 100+ employee companies have you had total responsibility?

Then enlighten me.
Imagine being the CEO of UMC and now having to figure out how to comply with the NLRA and Louisiana’s right-to-work, all while keeping continuity of care going strong and not bankrupting the hospital.

Actually they wouldn’t. I review medical records and emergency room records as part of my job. It’s not rocket science.

But many mediocre people are more than happy to work as nurses and have plenty of time off to enjoy their life.

Weird youre the first person to mention critical care.

What the frick do you think CEOs do?
It's hard to tell.
Ours is never in his office...or the building...for that matter.
Maybe we should both be paid based on time actually at work.

Patient presents complaining of back pain. The ED nurse triages the patient, gives her an aspirin, and sends her home with instructions to follow-up with her PCP. My head is spinning due to the complexity. Clearly the ED nurse deserves a 7-figure salary.

Probably the same number you have.

One of many. Not every nurse is in CC.
My ex is a pediatric nurse. I wouldnt do it. But she loves it.

We’re not talking about specialization. Those people don’t want a union because their skill sets are already valued highly.

You would be wrong.
But youre not management material.

Exactly.
It benefits the enterprising NOT to be tied to a union. You can do much better on your own.

There it is everyone. Just stop requiring education and competency lmao. You are probably the type to eat up clickbait articles about “healthcare errors” too.

Responsible for delivering the best quality of patient care
Wait?? Is that the first responsibility of the CEO?
Would that be the same CEO that's cuts staff to unsafe patient/nurse ratios?
That's some funny shite right there.

I'm not even going to bother with the rest.

Unions served a purpose at one time, but today they only serve to punish the haves for the benefit of the have nots.

You believe this is indicative of most nurse/patient interactions?

So for those of you that work or have worked for a union based system, are you required to be part of the union? My wife voted against the union but it obviously still passed. Is she required to participate and pay union dues?

Imagine being the CEO of UMC

Now imagine the CEO of UMC, bringing marginal locums RNs into the system during and after CV19. Imagine him remunerating those temps at higher income than established employees in order to attain "workforce flexibility". Imaging that decision causing the system to hemorrhage irreplaceable RNs, and pushing remaining RNs to unionize.
Imagine that same fool attempting to run another business that way.

You couldn’t do that bro!
