And yet we have people on this site, namely Trump hating "liberals", who have unfettered faith in our legal system. Any prosecutor has the ability to indict any American for any crime at any time.

I assume you chose not to indict if it will haunt you. That stage should be less of a burden than the trial. If there's a chance there was a crime, safer to indict and let the trial lay out the more detailed facts.

That’s tough. If I was ever called to be a jury, I’m probably voting not guilty unless it’s a slam dunk case.

Sure but I didn't do my quota of felonies today.
Trump apologists want us to pretend everyone does lots of crimes Mueller could indict us for.

I doubt it.

I've been in juries.
I have been getting out of them since a wrongful death case.
I remember everything.

A grand jury is decent in theory but terrible in execution.

A grand jury indictment just means they can move forward with a real trial.

Stop whining.

I had the opposite experience. I served on a Grand Jury the summer after HS. It was a fantastic experience and I’d like to do it again if I had the job flexibility.

99% of our cases were very easy. One officer involved shooting that was mostly cut and dry.

Think about how stupid 12 average Americans who can't get out of jury duty are. The only thing most of them need to convict is a person of authority telling them the person charged is guilty. It should be hard to get a case to trial, not a rubber stamp.

A grand jury should always let the case go to trial if there’s any chance the suspect is guilty.

You understand that petit jurors in most states don’t get to take notes at all, right?

And yeah, you should edit out your entire OP. Don’t think for a second a local prosecutor wouldn’t be able to recognize the case you’re talking about.

Pretty easy for sure. But, I consider it responsibility and I didn't mind serving on a jury for a murder trial. I was picked for the jury but I really was hoping to be appointed to the grand jury during our voir dire

The decision to indict can get really complex and I think it should be left up to the DA

Hell no. Thats not how our legal system works.

I would however be in favor of getting rid of grand juries and replacing them with preliminary hearings.
