The quote is part of the bigger picture with Davis-Gates.
She was on video shouting "OUR schools...OUR children...OUR students" at a CTU rally last November, yet she killed a school-choice program for low-income students and fought to eliminate standardized tests.
She bullied the CEO of CPS into resigning after he refused to take out a $300 million loan. She has also bullied and threatened teachers who have opposed her agendas.
She funneled CTU money directly into Brandon Johnson's mayoral campaign which caused an unfair labor practice complaint.
She has refused to release union audits from the last 5 years and has called demands for her to release a budget as "bullshite".
She's a monster who only wants the best for herself and her cronies, kids be damned. The OP's interpretation of her using that quote is an accurate one.

I didn't take it as you necessarily defending her. And in the old days, that quote made sense. In those days, most teachers were trusted by the parents to teach the kids the basics and reinforce what was being taught at home. So yeah, the kids did belong to the teacher from 8am to 330pm.
But the teachers were not froot loops, freaks, or openly communist. They brought value to the community, not disdain and disappointment.

I saw a video years ago it was older jewish guy that was saying the exact same thing. He was also saying they were feeding people babies and probably other stuff I can't remember now.
