Not long after a 2017 meeting in which Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein reportedly discussed wearing a wire to secretly record conversations with President Trump, two top officials in the meeting, FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and bureau lawyer Lisa Page, went to the office of a third FBI official, general counsel James Baker.

quote:

"The thing that struck me the most was the serious look on Baker's face when he was describing it," one source close to the investigation said of Baker's House interview. "He was conveying that they [McCabe and Page] took it seriously, and because they took it seriously, he took it seriously."

quote:

One of the sources familiar with the investigation said that Baker, in his House interview, "did indicate that there was strong belief that Rosenstein was coordinating with two people within the administration who were contemplating invoking the 25th

They want Trump to fire Rosey. Mcabe and Paige can't have it both ways..... I think Rosey is Safe, the ex FBI agents are looking for a out, not going to happen.. Plus, the whole story would have to tell which two other cabinet members was in on it, I don't believe that for minute. Also, Sticking with ole Kav did trump some favors.... JMO

Sarcasm?

According to everyone not named McCabe, Rosenstein acerbically challenged McCabe in the meeting, saying, "What do you want me to do Andy, wear a wire?" It's beyond obvious that wearing a wire EXACTLY what McCabe wanted. In fact, McCabe's conversation eliciting Rosenstein's remark would be very interesting to hear.

Further, McCabe leaked the "Rosenstein wanted to wear a wire" accusation. So the question is why would McCabe do that? What purpose would it serve? Obviously, the purpose would be to undercut Rosenstein.
Why would McCabe want/need to undercut Rosenstein?

IMO Trump's chummy trip to Florida with Rod, speaks volumes as to where this may be going.

exactly, people need to understand the more Trump attacks Rosey the more cred the media gives Rosey, but Trump is not attacking Rosey right now, why because I think the FBI tried to play Rosey and maybe just maybe Rosey and the rest have finally caught on....

Can we just do away with the FBI and the DOJ? They are obviously incompetent and corrupt.

Hannity say it is just “meh”.

Sara Carter saying it made me do a double take. She’s been the best journalist in the country over the last year.

The Times said Rosenstein also suggested that in addition to him recording the president, other officials could, too. The paper said Rosenstein noted that White House officials did not make him give up his cellphone when visiting, "implying it would be easy to secretly record Mr. Trump."

There has been some speculation among Hill Republicans that McCabe was behind the story, that he was trying to set Rosenstein up for a fall. Investigators wondered whether McCabe and Page were telling Baker the truth. But at the very least, Baker's interview shows that Rosenstein's suggestion was taken seriously.

The Times also reported that Rosenstein "discussed recruiting cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Mr. Trump from office for being unfit." One of the sources familiar with the investigation said that Baker, in his House interview, "did indicate that there was strong belief that Rosenstein was coordinating with two people within the administration who were contemplating invoking the 25th."

The Rosenstein revelations intensified a long-running debate over the possibility that Trump might fire the deputy attorney general. The debate focused not so much on what should or should not happen to Rosenstein but on what effect a firing would have on the work of Trump-Russia special counsel Robert Mueller. With Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused from the Russia investigation, Rosenstein oversees Mueller's office.

Democrats, and some Republicans, warned Trump against firing Rosenstein. "This story must not be used as a pretext for the corrupt purpose of firing Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein in order to install an official who will allow the president to interfere with the special counsel's investigation," said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., shortly after the Times story appeared.

No firing seems imminent. Rosenstein flew with President Trump on Air Force One to Florida Monday. The two men held a 45-minute discussion. After the trip, Trump was asked whether he plans to fire Rosenstein. "No, I don't," the president answered.
I think that McCabe AND RR were in on it. The obvious plan was for RR to write the letter and fire Comey (who was a sitting duck anyway) and scream obstruction down the road. (Which happened)

I think that McCabe is getting hammered with a lifetime sentence with no lube and he is taking them all down with him for a lighter sentence.

If RR wasn't a bad hat he would have never signed the fake FISA warrant.

Trump won't fire RR. After the midterms RR will be taken away in cuffs. I also think Clapper copped a plea deal and told the truth and Brennan the commie POS is before a grand jury. Baker and Page's testimony finally told the whole truth.

I also think the news this week will show that JFKing Trump was also mentioned as plan B for these sedition political espionage freaks and LL does not skate.

IF this is true, how the hell was Rosenstein walking around the Kavanaugh swearing in ceremony at the White House all smiles after traveling all day with Trump? You'd think he'd be busy applying excessive amounts of boudreaux's butt paste after that day.

There’s a slim chance that RR was duped into signing that last FISA by Strzok/Priestap/McCabe/Comey.

Very slim. Because I still don’t trust the guy for the simple fact he appointed Mueller and gave him some crazy broad scope over something that had no legit probable cause.

It’s been 2 years and there’s nothing resulted from the probable cause they used as rationale, and yet RR is letting Mueller persist.

So either RR is a ginormous pussy who allowed/allows himself to be easily manipulated, or he’s been in on the cover-up/witch hunt/soft coup attempt from the beginning.

Either way, he ultimately needs to go.

This really does have the optics of another Democratic frame job. Scary, coming from the Eff Bee Eye. If anyone could frame a person solidly, that would be the organization. I actually respect RR for staying out of the trap*.

*If, indeed, this whole this is as I suspect it is.

He knows Baker outed him. It is just a slow game because of midterm politics. Either that or he flipped completely on those even higher then McCabe?

So FBI uses this convo as leverage over RR to appoint RM investigation on DJT, then Baker leaks convo in hopes DJT fires RR?

If so, gut the agency to its core
