"A couple decades ago some old socialist guy from Vermont was elected to the US senate as a Democrat. I didn’t say anything because he was only one, of a hundred, and I’m not even from Vermont. Plus, it was fun to correct those stupid conservatives who kept calling him a communist. I never acknowledge that the guys a socialist, I simply correct people for calling him a communist. Also, I kinda don’t mind him being a socialist, as long as he always votes against those darn conservatives. Those idiots actually thought we’d become a communist country.

Over the last decade, a handful of districts elected open socialists to the US Hoise of Representatives as democrats. I didn’t say anything because they were only a few of over four hundred, and I’m not even from those districts. Plus, it was more fun to correct those stupid conservatives who kept calling them communists. I never admit that those people are socialists, I simply correct people for calling them communists. Also, I kinda don’t mind them being socialists, as long as they always vote against those darn conservatives. Those idiots still think we’re becoming a communist country.

More recently, a few major American cities elected open socialists posing as democrats to the office of mayor. I didn’t say anything because it’s only a few cities, and I don’t even live in any of them. Plus, it was always more fun to correct those stupid conservatives who kept calling them communists. I never admit that those people are socialists, I simply correct people for calling them communists. Also, I kinda don’t mind them being socialists, as long as they always vote against those darn conservatives. I can’t believe those idiots still think we’re becoming a communist country.

You see, other than getting myself off by correcting you on the definition of communism, what this is really about is democrats getting control back. I mean, that's just politics.

And sure, once we get that control back, we will be beholden to our new non-communist friends. There will be too many of them to ignore. We'll owe them some favors. We will help them push for some minor changes, but by and large we will still be the same ole democrats.

We will want to abolish the senate. We will want to abolish prisons and police. We'll want to strip funding to the pentagon. We'll want most major corporations to be run by the govt. Universal Basic Income will be on our radar. And We think we should probably pack the SCOTUS.

This stuff probably won't even be that bad. You'll hardly notice. Besides, it can't possibly be any worse than what Trump is doing to this country. So lighten up, Francis. We aren't going communist! Only a very small step in the direction of socialism. And that's way different. And way better!"

Seriously though, they'll even use lukewarm conservatives if it helps their cause. They really don't gaf.

They don't like this MAGA thing because it scares the shite out of them and they know much of it is effective and will wipe out a lot of things they want.

Socialism isn't authoritarianism. It just strips all the protections away and makes the populous dependent on the government so that when things get bad the authoritarian can come in and save us. Not the elites or the ones in power. Just the ones who wanted the government to make their life easier and more fair, even if it gave it more power. The people we are giving the power and control to are socialists, democratic socialists even, not communists or conservatives.

I just want one of these dumb arse blue cities to finally get their wish and have their police defunded and abolished.

Minneapolis is the first place this should happen.

Yep, but I'd take Seattle or Portland as well.

“It’s the economy, stupid!”

Has always been the case. Voters vote with their wallets.

Trump won last election with the highest number of males under 40 voting Republican in decades. That number today has dwindled. Young people cannot buy homes. They are burdened by super high student loans. They see the deck stacked against them. They must compete for jobs with foreigners who are willing to work for peanuts.

Inflation skyrocketed under Covid and Biden’s regime, and continues to increase at between 4 and 5 percent annually.

Voters read about high cost of living, wasteful government spending, and trillions added to the debt each year.

Voters are tired of forever wars and the cost of funding them.

Social security is next on the list of problems to be addressed: Not bullshite disability claims, not providing 2 meals a day in summer months to public school students, not runaway Medicaid claims, or free phones, or section 8 housing abuses. No, we are looking at changing the rules for seniors who have paid into a government program for many years against their wishes.

Our government needs a complete overhaul. Until the republicans focus on our fiscal problems, we will have voters turn their attention to other forms of governing.

I keep wishing that for our little Democrat run safe havens. As soon as no law, the blue purge begins.
