Was there any answer that audience or panel would have respected?

Probably not, but there are hundreds that would not have turned them hostile in the middle of the first sentence. I posted one on p.2 of this thread.

What era is MAGA trying to replicate?
MAGA is not about perfectly-recreating a specific historical era in our history. All historical periods have strengths and weaknesses, and no one wants to recreate the more-negative aspects of our past ... whether we are discussing slavery, Jim Crow, anti-Semitism or McCarthyism, But one characteristic shared through much of our history has been a positive ethos of hope about the future. That ethos seems to have been lost in recent decades, and re-connecting with that ethos is the essence of MAGA.

In all "great" societies, there were still some people that were not well off. It's obvious that making a country great means improving the country as a whole, which provides more opportunities to more people. A rising tide lifts all boats. Only idiots and people obsessed with race try to equate MAGA to anything else.

This. MAGA is about getting government out of the way so the upward mobility that allowed so many to prosper on their own backs can return. While still attainable, the America Dream is much harder to achieve, unless you come from money.

The days of a guy becoming a millionaire because he figured out you can cut grass with fishing line were nearly stamped out, and liberal policy will surely kill them off.

Coincidentally, the people who benefit most from MAGA are poor minorities. Economic opportunity, and upward mobility are what kills cyclical poverty, and redistributes wealth to those who create value, not government programs.

And the evidence of this is right in front of our faces. Black real wages, and employment are surging during Trump's presidency.

The problem is that Candace lost the audience when she started with “Slavery had existed everywhere on the planet.”. That sounds like a justification, even if not how it was intended. You must be aware of your audience.

Because slavery is not a uniquely American phenomenon so its not what made America great and so why should it be included in any return to greatness?

Level headed guy. I don't agree with everything he says but there is at least some logic behind most of his statements. Even knew some history.

They were already hostile before she opened her mouth.

No. It's a factual statement.

Modern American blacks tend to want to hold onto slavery as a struggle unique to our demographic and turn ridiculously infantile when that supposition is challenged.

It must be challenged, however, not coddled and tiptoed around.

I do think attitudes are changing. American black folks (generally of course) don't like being told what to do, what to say or how to behave, particularly by white folks. There is some pushback by not just more conservative black voices but even those who would be considered libertarian or even left leaning (e.g. Dave Chappelle).

Now, not directly related to this, but I am also noticing a broader rejection by reasonable black folks on this topic of affirmative action (or other minority exemptions/set asides/preferences). I've always maintained that these policies suggest/reinforce notions that black folks are inferior and cannot make it on their own merits.

Which is, of course, bullshite. An extension of this are the suggestions (from these same liberal elite whiter-than-sour cream honkies) that these same folks are too fragile to hear uncomfortable words/facts/historical analysis.

So, like everything the left does, this is bent and twisted to the breaking point by now trying to make racist unspoken sentiments - like "urban" as a pejorative equivalent to the n-word or that suggesting that we want to "Make America Great Again" means bringing back Jim Crow, slavery ("They're going to put y'all back in chains!") - just utter nonsense that few in the public eye seem to want to call bullshite on.
