re: Thoughts on "Jesus: He gets us"

Gonna post this again. Jesus taught to love God with all our strength and might and to love one another as he loves us. The spirit is poured out, the temple torn down. As the scripture says, I live in you, you live in me and we live in the father.
A modern understanding of sin, articulated by many a Catholic priest and alluded to by Francis is: the ability to help, to forgive, to relieve pain or suffering and choosing to do otherwise.
This fits with Matthew 25:31-46
31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

Remember that handful of cucks who posted hundreds of times the week before the election about muh Christianity and moral conscious?
It is aimed at them.
Guys who would rather see their daughter get her twat slaughtered by an illegal rather than vote for a guy who has been married 3 times and doesn't give a shite about abortion.
Most are probably closet homos or pedos.

I'm not a Christian and never will be but I do wonder about these commercials. What is their ultimate motive do you think?
Propaganda? Votes?

I always like a good dichotomy - Jesus condemns the sin but forgives the sinner
Does he? The Lord Jesus, then known as Yahweh, made great plagues of Egypt, killed their firstborn of every womb, and then showed the entire Egyptian army that he was the greatest of the bene elohim. He could have gotten all those Egyptian converts and forgave their sins. Nah, frick em kill em all.
Exodus 14
quote:
27So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its normal course when the morning appeared. And as the Egyptians fled into it, the LORD threw the Egyptians into the midst of the sea. 28The waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen; of all the host of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea, not one of them remained. 29But the people of Israel walked on dry ground through the sea, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. 30Thus the LORD saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. 31Israel saw the great power that the LORD used against the Egyptians, so the people feared the LORD, and they believed in the LORD and in his servant Moses.
Jude 1:5
quote:
5Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.
quote:
He's a lover. Not a condemner
Stop it. He condemns the shite out of everyone. Just about every human ever to live goes to eternal hellfire punishment, except the Mormons who get to go to heaven.
He’s not a lover. He is Yahweh Sabaoth the lord of the heavenly armies.
Deuteronomy 32
quote:
39“‘See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god beside me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand. 40For I lift up my hand to heaven and swear, As I live forever, 41if I sharpen my flashing sword and my hand takes hold on judgment, I will take vengeance on my adversaries and will repay those who hate me. 42I will make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh— with the blood of the slain and the captives, from the long-haired heads of the enemy.’ 43“Rejoice with him, O heavens; bow down to him, all gods, for he avenges the blood of his children and takes vengeance on his adversaries. He repays those who hate him and cleanses his people’s land.”
Yahweh is the bestest and most powerful bene Elohim. In fact beside him, there are none (at his level of power and destructive force). He doesn’t forgive, but takes vengeance.
This isn’t the “turn the other cheek” Jesus character from the gospels but fits well with the Jesus character described in Revelation who is coming to earth to kill all the unbelievers in a big bloody mess.

Everybody deserves hell. God’s standard is 100% sin free, and only Jesus Christ lived a 100% sin free life. He took our punishment. We have to accept Him as our savior and follow him. It is the only way to heaven.

So you believe in Jesus as referenced in this thread. That being said which is it…
1) Was He the best liar and magician on the planet tricking billions of people, or
2) Is He exactly who He said He was?

I grew up Roman Catholic and so I do approach life as a cultural Catholic.
quote:
I don't see where anyone person needs "saving"
Sadly, the Roman Catholic tradition is leading many astray with the same lie told by Satan in the temptation of Eve.
Genesis 3:1-4 (ESV) 1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the LORD God had made.
He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, 3 but God said, You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’” 4 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die."
Purgatory, indulgences, etc. stems from this whole concept of venial sins, sins that don't actually condemn one to death and hell but which allow a second chance, purification, after death. When one doesn't realize that he is suspended over a lake of fire (hell, eternal punishment for sinning against a Holy God) held up only by the mere thread of this temporary life in light of eternity, it's not surprising that he doesn't understand his need to be saved (saved from what?).
Instead, God's Word tells us:
Romans 3:23 (ESV)
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 6:23 (ESV)
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Revelation 20:14-15 (ESV) 14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
Romans 10:9 (ESV)
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
The reason so few are saved is because they don't see what they need to be saved from. We can imagine how an earthly king might react when someone intentionally impugns the king's honor, much less commits treason. They would be subject to death, perhaps in as creative and painful a fashion as such a king could imagine. The Bible tells us we all have committed cosmic treason, creatures who were made in the image of God declaring ourselves to be our own gods, effectively spitting in the face of our Creator. That God did not immediately strike Adam and Eve, and the rest of humanity, dead on the spot is owing only to His mercy and grace in His delay of giving us what we deserve. Nevertheless, our sin must be dealt with, or else God would not be just.
In His mercy, God sent his son, Jesus, to live a sinless life and die a substitutionary death on a cross. In the greatest transaction ever, God offers to credit us with Jesus' perfect righteousness and to punish our sin on Jesus' cross so that we don't have to bear the punishment that we deserve.
2 Corinthians 5:21 (ESV)
21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
This gift of salvation is freely offered through faith and is not something you can earn through good works, as though you could put God in your debt and have something to boast about. I pray you'll consider these things.
