What incremental news do we have that leads you to believe we are trying to oust Assad?

We need to just stay out of it and let Syria and Russia figure it out with the blood of their troops. If some how Assad gets over thrown by the Syrian people then it was fait and good for them, for standing up and fighting back.

Neocons and unprincipled dumbass conservatives are like the abusive spouse that keeps going like, "It'll be different this time baby. I promise I'll change if you can give me a infinitieth chance."

Secular leaders in the ME no matter how fricked up keep some stability, b/c they rule with an iron fist and Arabs for the most part can't evolve into rational self governing people.

It's such a simple truth for people to understand and especially so after two Presidents that saw failed states go exactly like this.

If you favor removing Assad, you favor more refugees that do not want to assimilate into wherever they go and seek to islamize it.

The saber rattling that we're doing after the Syria Strikes?

Tillerson, McMaster and Haley making statements on the Sunday shows that implies they want Assad gone?

Put Hillary in charge of Syria.

Send all her fellow progressives there so they can be with the Syrian refugees.

It's a win win.

Our Saudi and Israeli handlers must want every other country in the region in civil war. It's the only thing that makes sense anymore.

So it's al Nusra, ISIS and al Qaeda that are the Sunni's backed by Saudi Arabia and Assad with Hezbollah (Shias) backed by Iran?

Yes, but Iran and Hezbollah are fighting for Al-Saad. They want him to remain.

And Al-Qaeda no longer really exists. They morphed into the formers.

That's not really true. Al-Nusra, which is now called Tahrir al-Sham is still AQ aligned. ISIS spun out of AQI. It's always been a network of groups, rather than a monolithic, singular entity.

I was responding to the assertion that Al-Qaeda doesn't exist anymore, which it does. Tahrir al-Sham is still AQ aligned. There are multiple AQ aligned groups in Syria as well. Jabhat Fateh al-Sham is another Syrian group that is AQ aligned.

will be different this time, I promise. These people CRAVE Western Democracy and we are duty bound to give it to them through American blood and treasure. For the children. Amen

Some of them actually do, but lack the military capability to hold a coup, or the civil capability to do so from within, and they also lack the nous and strength necessary to hold power if they ever gained it.

The force of islamism within countries means that only authoritarian regimes, whether within a democracy or without, can hold power for any length of time.

As far as I know there's no specific mention of the necessary system of government within the Koran (other than? it would be a theocracy), but Democratic city states and republic empires had been on the doorstep for centuries and they didn't see fit to include any of that so I can only assume that on the whole Islamic people in the east are unconcerned with political representation and the division of governmental power.

While Al-Nusra may share a common methodology and aim when viewed from a Western perspective, they at least claim to only be interested in Syria and thus are different from AQ the two groups went their separate ways some time ago.

It's more than that . I've talked about it here for a decade. There is a genuine, heart-felt belief that many Movement Conservative truly possess, that people want freedom and that people want Democracy. It's the primary delusion of The Right, a sort of wishful-thinking blind spot that is contrary to the normal "tragic" view of humankind that Conservatism is founded on. Like Progressivism it chooses to see the world as it wishes to see it, rather than as it is. That's why all the "neoCon/Israel" garbage bores me so, because it's just a small part of the entire picture. The truth is that many Conservatives want to save mankind from itself in the same Utopian style that Progressivism does.

I would like to see us inflict pain on the Shia/Iran/Syria/Russian power-influence-structure in a far smarter and effective way than putting troops in Syria. We should do what is in our best interest and nothing else, imho. We can't save humanity from itself and we owe the world NOTHING.

Except their stated goal is to turn Syria into an Islamic state run by Al-Qaeda.

I think we should arm the survivors of the genocide in Sweden and claim Syria as a new home for the Swedish people
