Under the UN Charter, the United Nations is the only authorized entity to order Peacekeeping forces inside of nation-states when that nation-state has not given permission for such a force to be inside of its country.
The presence of USA military forces inside of Syria has been authorized by neither Syria or the United Nations. As such, continued presence of US military forces inside of Syria is yet another unilateral military action of the USA, and is on very shaky legal grounds under International Law.
When Bush invaded Iraq in 2003, the Democrats were ALL ABOUT following International Law.
Isn't it interesting that the Mass Media and the Democrats are silent when it comes to discussing the legal basis for the US military presence inside Syria?

We must protect an informal ally from a formal ally by placing troops in between them in perpetuity so our formal ally doesn't genocide the informal ally. Naturally, we must do it all alone because our other formal allies can't be bothered to assist with such an apparently grave situation.
Makes perfect sense.

Kurds and Turks were good buddies when they were committing genocide against Armenians at the turn of the century.

The United Nations was created for two main reasons: prevent the future "scourge of war" and to prevent "genocide".
If the United Nations thought that Turkey was committing genocide, the UN would already have acted.
I say let the UN solve this problem. The US forces' presence is probably illegal.
If the UN refuses to do its job then Abolish the UN.
