This is the “argument” in favor of sanctuary policies

Basically, sanctuary policies are meant to encourage illegal aliens who are victims of crime to report said crime without fear of being deported
For example, a rape victim may not report the rape if they believe going to the cops to report the rape will reveal their illegal status.
Here is where this argument is baloney:
You can easily draft a city “sanctuary” policy that protects victim immigration status without protecting immigration status of the criminal
Yet in practice, “sanctuary” policy applies to both the victim and the criminal

The same cities that are sanctuary cities are also “zero bail” cities, and are light on crime.
