There is no vehicle made by an American car manufacturer that is in the same league as German autos.

As you probably know, pickups are the best selling vehicles in America. And when a foreign automaker wants to sell one in the US, it gets hit with a 25% import tariff.
How much is the tariff on SC's Mercedes-Benz Sprinters, Tx's Toyota Tundras, etc.?

Trump never mentions these tariffs.

It's a good point.

Toyota moved production to the us for the tundra, I wonder if this is a net loss for Americans.

But the offset are the shitty cafe standards which raise prices for trucks.

Concept not even being marketed in North America for the foreseeable future. Same with BMW, btw.

The board is very poorly educated on our tariffs, especially autos.

Much of this board should google the Smoot-Hawley Tariffs of 1930 and the subsidization of our sugar industry.

0%

Is this some kinda trick question?

I just think it's silly that Trump is pretending that the US auto industry is being victimized here when they have plenty of trade protection.

Just a nod to the gibberish you posted in the other tariff thread
quote:

the US already imposes a 25% tariff on foreign trucks and commercial vans, clearly a nod to the US truck industry . . .

On the other end of things, Ford and GM produce tons of cars in various parts of the EU. In general, these cars do not get any additional tariffs between EU countries.

How is this gibberish? If GM produces a car in Germany and sells it in Italy, it won't be taxed. That's all I was saying chief. This gives GM and Ford full range of the EU regardless of where they build the factory.

Why the Hell would anyone not in the auto industry know anything about auto tariffs?

Probably 80% of the population cannot name 3 SCOTUS justices and you want to bitch about not knowing about tariffs?
