I made a significant contribution to Trump's campaigns, both in 2020 and 2024. That's why I received a nice White House Christmas card from POTUS Trump, Melania and Barron in 2020 and why I received an invitation to Trump's 2025 inauguration. (I didn't go to it once they announced the swearing-in ceremony was being moved indoors due to the cold temperatures and I'd have to watch it on a big TV in an arena. I decided to watch it on a big TV in my media room.
) However, I've never donated to the Republican Party itself. That's because I've never joined any political party, including Republican.
To paraphrase humorist Will Rogers, "I've never joined a political party because I'm afraid if I did, it would only encourage them."
Besides, I'm convinced most people only join political parties because they are too dumb to think for themselves so they depend on "The Party" (1984) to tell them what to think. This board reinforces that opinion.
